Palique is a high-population, non-agricultural, industrial and icy world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- The surface of this world is ice-capped with nearly all of its water frozen.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Mora Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- Palique is a member of (and the namesake of) the Palique Cluster.
- It is directly controlled by Fornice.
- The world's name is spelled Pallique in some sources.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
Palique is a captured planet; its eccentric orbit is inclined almost perpendicularly to the system's ecliptic plane. Palique suffers a series of planetary impacts twice each local year as the planet passes through the inner edge of the outer planetoid belt. As a result of the navigation hazards the IISS has registered the world as an Amber Zone. [2]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Palique is an icy planet with only a trace nitrogen atmosphere; its eccentric orbit results in a highly variable climate.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Palique is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Palique has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- Throughout most of the local year it experiences very low temperatures.
- During the two "bombardment seasons", at the world's two perihelia, temperatures may reach moderate levels.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Palique has 05-15% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.
- The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
- Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only a part of the icy outer shell exposed.
- Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, trace atmosphere world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Palique is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
Palique suffers a series of planetary impacts twice each local year due to its orbit carrying it through a planetoid belt. As a result of the hazard the IISS has registered the world as an Amber Zone.[3]
The system's two extremely rich planetoid belts provided the primary draw for settlement and development. Despite its inhospitable nature, Palique's location and abundant resources have led it to become a high-population, high-technology world. Among the most famed exports are its vacuum survival gear.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Palique has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Palique has a population of 3,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Palique possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-5.
World Government (G)[edit]
Palique has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
This world is directly administered by the authorities on Fornice.
World Law (L)[edit]
Palique has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Palique, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial count.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial minor duke.
