Kinshasa is a rich, pre-agricultural world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in size.
- The world's agricultural industry is growing and some economists forecast an explosion in this world's agribusiness in the near future as new agro-technology and a more capable labor force are imported.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
- It is a member of the Lancian Cultural Region, a sub-polity of the Third Imperium, located in the Isi Ahto Subsector of Gushemege Sector.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- This world has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
- About 90% of the population is composed of baseline humans and other non-human sophonts.
- About 10% of the population is composed of Graytch.
- It is part of the Graytch Cultural Region.
- Kinshasa is located on the Vilani Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Kinshasa is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Kinshasa is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Kinshasa has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Kinshasa has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Kinshasa is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
The breadbasket to many of the nearby Human colonies, Kinshasa is an agribusiness idyll, and its cities reflect the wealth and opulence of its inhabitants. The world is a great exponent of natural and organic farming methods.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Kinshasa has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The world is host to a Scout Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Kinshasa has a population of 600,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
- Around 90% of the population consists of Lancians and other sophonts.
- About 10% of the population is made up of Graytch.
World Languages[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Ga-ray-cha, the primary language of the Graytch.
- Kehuu, the primary Lancian language, as common on the worlds of the Cultural Region as Anglic or Vilani.
- Ushi, a language used throughout Gushemege Sector.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
Urbanization[edit]
The capital city is Wynlinga.
The lack of much forest makes the world unattractive to Graytch, but the wealth and vibrancy of the place has attracted a few corporations to establish a presence here. The Graytch enclave, an artificial structure designed to show off Graytch construction and architecture on this most style-conscious of worlds, forms a spur to the southern part of Wynlinga.
- A typical Graytch structure has huge uprights taking the place of their homeworld's tree-trunks. Between these are strung pseudo vines and branches, the arrangement of which is a hallmark of Graytch designers.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Kinshasa possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Kinshasa is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. This is a continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and been replaced by allies or protégés. The justifications for the original change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.
World Law (L)[edit]
Kinshasa has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.
- In Graytch courts, a judicial board is established for each trial session, the board members drawn from the public at large. The board act as judge and jury, and also handle sentencing. The Agency of Justice appoints an advisor to ensure that all goes smoothly.
- Graytch legal codes treat almost all crime as an example of mental illness, and hand out banishment as one of their most substantial punishments.
Imperial Landed Nobility (N)[edit]
Kinshasa, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdoms of three members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
