Deyis II is a barren world with no overt population, government, or law level.
- This world could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so...
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Khipge Subsector of Zarushagar Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- This dangerous world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it dangerous to visitors.
- This is a "Reserve World" with restricted access, either to protect the indigenous lifeforms, to protect available resources, preserve pristine and idyllic real estate, or other reasons.
- It lies within the Iimii Cluster.
- It was the homeworld of the extinct Kebkh.
- In the early Third Millennium a significant population of Geonee existed on this world.
- This world was once known as Deyis and also as Nivalia.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Deyis II has a solitary primary star.
- It is a turbulent orange bright giant.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x9 secondary rocky worlds.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Deyis II is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Deyis II has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
The world has unusual weather and climate patterns, with seasons lasting up to seventy years.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Deyis II has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Until the first years of the 6th century the world had abundant, complex life occupying every ecological niche, including a native sophont species, the Kebkh.
- It was the origin world of Bodhika Bacteria, a simple lifeform.
- It was the original homeworld of the Parrot Dragon, a smart but non-sophontic creature.
In the year 501 Deyis II was sterilized of life – including microorganisms – under the authority of Imperial Edict 97. The reasons behind this are not publicly available.
- The only remaining forms of life on the world are extremely primitive, extremely durable cyanobacteria-parallels that have proven impossible to eradicate.
- Their metabolic functions drive the continuing process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Deyis II is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
It is a member of the Iimii Cluster, a cluster and trade route lying on the central-spinward side of Zarushagar Sector. The Cluster is one of the poorest and least developed regions of the sector.
It is a Reserve World, set aside by the Imperial authorities. Access to the surface is restricted. All activity within the system occurs in orbit around the mainworld or among the system's many secondary worlds and their moons.
- Editor's Note:
- The source being referenced gives very different backgrounds for Deyis II:
- In the MegaTraveller Referee's Gaming Kit, published in 1989, the world has abundant life. Its native creatures play a key part in resolving events that unfold there.
- In Marc Miller's Agent of the Imperium, published in 2015, the world was scoured of all life in the year 501: all lifeforms have been extinct for over 6 centuries.
- The version of Deyis II presented here most closely matches that of Agent of the Imperium.
Native Sophont[edit]
Deyis II was the homeworld of the Kebkh, a now extinct native sophont species. Around 8000 years ago, the world became home to a significant number of Geonee, who had gained jump technology from Vilani traders. The indigenous Kebkh and the Geonee shared the world, with each group occupying one of the world's two major continents.
- The Kebkh (as well as the Geonee and all other sophonts and lifeforms present on the world) were wiped out in 501.
Later Settlement[edit]
Several unauthorized attempts have been made to settle the world since the 6th Century. All of the settlers – and follow-up investigators – have disappeared without a trace.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Deyis II has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Deyis II is a Barren World with no sophont population. It may still possess lifeforms.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Deyis II possesses a Tech Level of TL–0.
- The world has no technological base.
World Government (G)[edit]
Deyis II has no government or ruling authority of any kind.
World Law (L)[edit]
Deyis II has no law level. No laws of any kind are enforced.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Despite being a world under Imperial control, this world-system's status has kept any Imperial Nobility from being appointed to it.
