Description (Specifications)

The Oromet Delight class Fleet Tender is part a very recent surge in major warship production. A huge arms race has swollen fleet sizes with massive combatants, hereto for very uncommon on the distant fringe. It was designed to transport as many of the numerous Oromet Class System Defense Boats into combat as possible and to facilitate rapid redeployment of defensive assets along expected pathways of enemy advance. Operating within Halcyon Sector: two have been completed, making a bold statement of deterence to any would be military adventures by neighboring hostile states.

The 184 marines are a reinforced company with 20 capsule launchers and 106 stored assault capsules. They have eight 6T Leset class Grav APCs. It can carry enough fuel for a single Jump-2 but is fitted to accept Jump-2 drop tanks to extend its operational range.

The hull is not streamlined, and requires fleet support for refueling operations. 2 primary airlocks and 5 secondary service airlocks are located around the vessel. The cargo hold is accessed by large doors. The configuration of the hull prevents surface landings.
2.	Crew	1,355 personnel. x63 command, x215 engineering, x177 gunnery, x184 marines, x252 service, and x464 flight. Accommodations There are 680.5 staterooms. Double occupancy accommodations are required for all crew. The cryo section contains 678 Low Berths, for the low watch or additional reinforced battalion of assault troops. Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Individual sections of the hull can be sealed off. There are multiple emergency lockers.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-2 drive, and a Power Plant-3, giving performance of Jump-2 and 2G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 0 and an emergency agility of 2. It has internal fuel tankage is sufficient for a single jump-2s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. The engineering section has a main control room. Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery. The jump drive utilizes a lanthanum hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge are a pair of efficient Model/6 fib computers. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, an advanced fire control and target tracking sensor array, and an elaborate avionics suite. It has advanced active and passive EMS sensor suites and triple redundant laser, maser and radio communication links with multiple frequency agile channels at system wide range. The vessel can degauss and has electronic protective circuits, and EM masking for stealth, despite its gravitational mass signature It has a military transponder unit that can be deactivated on command.
5.	Hardpoints	x1,260 hardpoints. The listed battery groupings are standard configurations for the class.
6.	Armament	The normal weapons fit-out for the class is: x10 particle accelerator bays, 22 heavy missile bays, 280 triple beam laser turrets, grouped into 28 batteries, each with 10 linked turrets, 280 dual fusion gun turrets, grouped into 28 batteries, each with 10 linked turrets.
7.	Defenses	The hull structurally reinforced, and fitted with secure bulkheads and compartments. x280 triple sandcaster turrets, grouped into 28 batteries, each with 10 linked turrets, 10 repulsor bays, (2) factor 1 meson screens, (2) nuclear dampers.

9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 28,980 dTons. The vessel is equipped with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in a few hours: the plant is operated and maintained by the engineering crew. Droptanks Examples of the class are routinely fitted with Droptanks capable of supporting an additional jump-2 for extended range operations.
10.	Cost	The basic cost of the vessel, with out subcraft, is MCr64,604.906. The single production model complete thus far cost MCr. 51,683.9248, the production run qualified for a 20% discount, which reduces the price per unit.
11.	Construction Time	262 weeks (5 years) individually. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12.	Comments	Standard cargo capacity amounts to 1,000 dTons.

History & Background (Dossier)

The Oromet Delight class Fleet Tender is a new class of warship: it was built in secret and is supplanting the older Leset class Fleet Tender as the preeminent command and control flagship of the Protectorate of Leset fleet. Designed and built in the Leset system, the Oromet Delight class Fleet Tender is designed to take full advantage of the stockpile of Oromet Class System Defense Boats available but stranded for lack of transport. Working together the fleet can more 31 SDBs at one time. The 22 fighter squadrons are carried to support surface, fleet operations as well as provide a combat space patrol to screen the launching and recovery operations of the x12 5,000 ton SDBs. Now that news of their existence has leaked into the press, the class is expected to operate on fleet maneuvers throughout the Distant Fringe region.

Distant Fringe Vessels

The Distant Fringe is said to be a far trailing-rimward area inhabited by colonists and refugees originating on Terra. The region is extremely isolated, separated from the rest of Charted Space by vast, almost uncrossable rifts that were once broached by a system of calibration Points and the use of tankers. Those few academics within Charted Space who have found references to the Distant Fringe regard it as little more than a tall tale. Likewise, many of the inhabitants of the Distant Fringe believe the existence of Charted Space to be mythical.

Vessels originating within the Distant Fringe are very rarely encountered outside of the region. However, misjumps do occur and anomalies with bizarre spacetime and Jumpspace effects exist: as such, craft of this type are not entirely unknown within Charted Space.

Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities

Class Naming Practice/s: Each vessel within the class is named by the government of the state that produces it. They generally draw on traditional naming protocols and it is not uncommon for a historical class name to be reused.

• Individual vessels within the class are issued specific serial numbers and transponder codes.
• Naming a ship is considered a serious affair and is generally accompanied by a traditional ceremony, usually pouring a local beverage over the bows of the craft. Starfarers tend to be superstitious folk and a ship with a frivolous name is considered "unlucky".
