Located almost entirely within the void of the Great Rift, this subsector has only six systems, and no Imperial worlds. It is frequently depicted as incorporating a part of the Imperial border, however, and two of the systems here lie on the neutral side of that border. Not even considered Imperial Clients, these worlds nonetheless see periodic patrols from the Imperial Navy bases nearby. While technically administered from Jhundale in Khulikhu Subsector, this part of the border sees Naval patrols from Ilelish Sector as well.

The worlds here are part of a tenuous bridge across the rift into Aslan space. Not heavily travelled, the bridgehead here is anchored by Ksandi and Jijiga, two worlds lying just outside Imperial space. A ship capable of reaching them from Aslan space is capable of jumping right over the nearby Imperial border worlds, so the Verge and Ilelish naval forces make a point of visiting those two worlds directly while maintaining otherwise normal patrol patterns in their respective areas.

Naakhulige Subsector is Subsector P of Verge Sector.

 • It is an independent region dominated by Humans.
 • It is located within Charted Space.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)

The subsector is a quiet backwater, occasionally crossed by vessels trading between the Imperium and the Aslan Hierate. Most worlds have small Aslan enclaves.

 • It lies on the edge of the Great Rift.
 • It has been settled for centuries.

Astrographic Features[edit]

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this subsector:

 • It is a very low stellar density region.
 • The brightest star is the yellow main sequence primary of the Santamaria system.
 • No trade routes are noted as crossing the region.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

 • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
 • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

 • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
 • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rifts and Voids[edit]

The subsector lies on the trailing edge of the Great Rift.

 • The rift hinders travel and commerce within the region.
 • It has placed a boundary on Imperial settlement and expansion within the area.

A simple map showing the general extent of the Great Rift, right:

The nature and limits of the rift may be determined by different criteria in different regions.

World Listings[edit]

Comprehensive Second Survey UWP data for all worlds lying within the subsector is available.

 • The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
 • Other sources may contain contradictory or incorrect information.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

A local cargo company, appropriately named Lone Star Haulers, operates a handful of 2000 ton Jump-5 liners on semi-regular routes along the rift bridge as well as a number of similar Jump-2 ships in Verge and Ilelish. Because of their largely non-Imperial clientele and the tempting nature of such highly mobile ships, their limited passenger capabilities are notably more secure with respect to other ship operations than the average.[1]

Polity Listing[edit]

The Third Imperium lays claim to the very coreward-trailing edge of the subsector.

Native Sophonts[edit]

No Sophont species are believed to have originated in this area.

Demographics[edit]

Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:

Subsector Summary[edit]

Naakhulige, subsector P of Verge, contains six worlds with an estimated combined population of 70 million, a per capita income of Cr4,685, and a total economy of BCr328. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr1,132 through 4 starports (0 Class A, 2 Class B, 2 Class C, 0 Class D) employing 187,300 people. Driving this interstellar trade are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, one Pre-Industrial (Pi) world, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The average technology level is 11 (with most between 9 and 12). The highest technology level is 12 at Tulu (Verge 2637), Bessmertorikh (Verge 2735), and Berganzali (Verge 2936).

Naakhulige, subsector P of Verge, contains eight stars and 65 identified planets; four monostellar systems, two binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 6 of the six systems (100%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, no Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, no Poor (Po) worlds, one Vacuum (Va) world, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Naakhulige has an estimated population of 70 million distributed across no High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, one Non-industrial (Ni) world, four Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Tulu (Verge 2637). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

1 identified sophont population in Naakhulige

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]

There are six Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Naakhulige with an estimated combined population of 70 million.
