Une is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Lancian Cultural Region, a sub-polity of the Third Imperium, located in the Isi Ahto Subsector of Gushemege Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Une has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a yellow main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Une is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Une has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Une has 75-85% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few large continents and extensive islands. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

Blank World Map Watery.png
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Une is noted for its unusual crystalline forests.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Although the world is administered from Shakhamash, it does not have a significant population of Hanen.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Une has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Une has a population of 10,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • Around 80% of the population consists of humans and other sophonts.
  • About 20% of the population is made up of Graytch.
Graytch Sophont Species 4.jpg

Urbanization[edit]

The Graytch, who prefer a colder environment, primarily inhabit the subpolar and polar regions.

Graytch architecture and construction techniques have been adapted to the local terrain. The cold forests cover many thousand of square kilometers, and there has been no problem in designating an area for Graytch development. Any Human visiting the forests will need to be dexterous and have a head for heights.

World Languages[edit]

The following languages are most commonly heard:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Une possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]

Une has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Une has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

  • In Graytch courts, a judicial board is established for each trial session, the board members drawn from the public at large. The board act as judge and jury, and also handle sentencing. The Agency of Justice appoints an advisor to ensure that all goes smoothly.
  • Graytch legal codes treat almost all crime as an example of mental illness, and hand out banishment as one of their most substantial punishments.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)[edit]

Une, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -2 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: A (abundant)
  • Labor: 3 (thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -4 (very poor)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: 2 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 2 (very xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
  • Symbols: 7 (somewhat concrete)
