The Orpheides are legally protected by the Convention of Interdiction.

History and Background[edit]

Colonized in the second wave of settlement after the European Space Agency Long-range Colony Mission arrived in this sector of the Great Rift, New Islands now boasts four major worlds with substantial populations. The most populous is Esperanza, far to the edge of the cluster, followed by New Colchis, Joyeuse, and Serendip Belt.

Politics and Diplomacy: Milieu 1116[edit]

New Islands, subsector J of Reft, contains 15 worlds with an estimated combined population of 18 billion, a per capita income of Cr5,805, and a total economy of BCr107,458. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr222 through 13 starports (4 Class A, 2 Class B, 5 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 25,650 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and three Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in New Islands maintain eight Military bases and four Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 5 and 11). The highest technology level is 12 at Serendip Belt (Reft 1323), New Colchis (Reft 1327), and Joyeuse (Reft 1628).

New Islands, subsector J of Reft, contains 22 stars and 154 identified planets; eight monostellar systems, seven binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 8 of the 15 systems (53%) have native gas giants. There are one Asteroid (As) belt, one Desert (De) world, one Garden (Ga) world, two Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, one Poor (Po) world, four Vacuum (Va) worlds, and no Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

New Islands has an estimated population of 18 billion distributed across four High population (Hi) worlds, one Moderate population (Ph) world, five Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Esperanza (Reft 0926). The population consists of 2 extant sophont groups including one native sophont. A Droyne population is now extinct.

2 identified sophont populations in New Islands

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]

There are 15 Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in New Islands with an estimated combined population of 18 billion.

Polity Listing[edit]
