Lunion is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Lunion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
- The world serves as the subsector capital with the significant extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It also has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
- Lunion is a member of the Spinward Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stars
Lunion has a solitary primary star.
- It is a yellow main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x9 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data
Lunion serves as the crossroads of commerce and information to Glisten (Spinward Marches 2036) and beyond, as well as the Border Worlds. As a major trade hub several Megacorporations and numerous smaller companies have offices located in the starport.
Mainworld Size (S)
Lunion is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Lunion has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Lunion has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)
Lunion's naval base is home to the Imperial 43rd Fleet, and its IISS facilities rival any in the Imperium. The Lunion IISS publishes The Emperor's Eye, the official magazine of the Imperial Scouts serving in the subsectors along the border near the Sword Worlds.
The jointly owned shipyard is the L'Union Navires Royaux, a maker of fine space and starcraft, with wide cooperation and technology agreements with many other corporations including Dzofakael in the Vargr Extents.
World Starport (St)
Lunion has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to a Naval Base.
- The world is host to a Scout Base.
World Population (P)
Lunion has a population of 8,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
The world contains a significant population of Aslan.
World Technology Level (T)
Lunion possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
While the world is rated as TL–14, some of the high tech companies on the world are researching TL–16 theoretical technologies. A major goal of the planetary government is upgrading local infrastructure to the highest TL–15 standards of Imperial Space.
World Government (G)
Lunion is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
World Law (L)
Lunion has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility
Lunion, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial count.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial subsector duke.
