Mercenary Cruiser (type C): Using an 800-ton hull, the mercenary cruiser is built to carry small troop units for corporate or government operations. [1]
- It is a paramilitary ship and a Mercenary Cruiser.
- While it resembles the Type C class Cruiser, they are different vessels. It is a much smaller craft.
Basic Ship Synopsis[edit]
C Mercenary Cruiser. 800 tons. Jump-3, 3-G. 318 tons fuel (48 tons reserve). Model/5. 25 staterooms. 8 hardpoints (8 triple turrets). Air/raft. 2 Modular cutters (1 open module, 1 fuel module, 2 ATV modules). 2 ATVs. 80 tons cargo. Unstreamlined. 8 crew. MCr445.95: 25 months. [2]
The Type C standard incorporates some flexibility in terms of armor and armaments, as well as specific carried craft. Prior to the modernization of the Modular Cutter, the Type C frequently carried two Pinnaces, gaining cargo or troop capability in exchange for the lost craft flexibility.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
It has jump drive-M, maneuver drive-M, and power plant-M, giving Jump-3 and 3-G acceleration. Fuel tankage of 318 tons supports the power plant, provides for one Jump-3, and holds 48 tons in reserve for its small craft and for long term operations. [3]
Adjacent to the bridge is a computer Model/5. There are 25 staterooms and no low berths. Eight turrets are installed, with fire control, but no weaponry is carried. The ship carries two 50-ton cutters, each with an ATV module (which includes an ATV). There is provision inside the ship for two additional modules. There is an air/raft carried in a hull compartment. Cargo capacity is 80.0 tons. The hull is unstreamlined. [4]
The minimum crew necessary for the mercenary cruiser is nine: commanding officer, pilot, navigator, four engineers, and medic. Gunners, cutter pilots, troops, and administrative personnel may be added as desired. The ship costs MCr445.95 and typically takes twenty-five months to build. [5]

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
While the Type C refers to any cruiser class ship, it is most commonly associated with the spheroidal mercenary cruisers used in situations where local ducal forces or Third Imperium line forces are not available. It’s a very tough design that has been designed, redesigned, and manufactured by numerous manufacturers at different tech levels.
Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]
The first ship of this class bore the name Broadsword, and following ships of the class have been named for edged weapons and polearms. As the class grew and more ships were built, the general category of non-missile firing weapons was assumed for naming of additional ships.
