Timpasol is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Galaxa Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.
- It orbits the secondary star.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- Approximately 80% of the population is composed of humans.
- About 10% of the population consists of Jaibok.
- Around 10% of the population is made up of Vardin.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Timpasol is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange subgiant.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
Primary System
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
Secondary System
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giant.
A diagram indicating the positions of all of the major worlds and satellites in the system. Distances are noted in AU.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Timpasol is a Twilight Zone World.
- One side of the world permanently faces towards the star and one side permanently faces away.
- In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.
The mainworld orbits within the secondary star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Timpasol is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Timpasol has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
- Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
- Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
- The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
- The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Timpasol has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- Much of the surface is an arid, hostile environment.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
A simple map of Timpasol showing the major landmasses, highland regions, the oceans, seas, and lakes, and the polar icecaps.
Native lifeforms[edit]
No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Timpasol was occupied by the Jaibok of the Korsumug Empire. It has been liberated from Korsumug oppression and is once more a free and independent world.
- Its liberation was covertly funded and supplied by the Sorority of Hygiea.
- It continues to receive support from the Sorority, including supplies, equipment, weaponry, and personnel.
Elements of the Korsumug Glorious Triumph Fleet regularly conduct raids within the system.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Timpasol has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Timpasol has a population of 900,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- Approximately 80% of the population (around 720,000 individuals) are human.
- Around 10% of the population (around 90,000 individuals) are Jaibok (largely interred military personnel and former occupation forces).
- About 10% of the population (around 90,000 individuals) are Vardin (long-established communities that have called the world their home for centuries).
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Timpasol possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Timpasol is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Military[edit]
Local militia forces, gradually being organized into a single cohesive planetary army.
- The armed forces contain many offworld units and mercenary outfits.
World Law (L)[edit]
Timpasol has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: C (very abundant)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: -1 (below average)
Much of the worlds infrastructure was destroyed during the liberation.
- It is in the process of being rebuilt.
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 8 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
- Symbols: 7 (somewhat concrete)
World Timeline[edit]

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
