Theton is a nonindustrial fluid world.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Theton Subsector of Vland Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- This world orbits the system's secondary star.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- The world serves as the subsector capital with the significant extra trade and prestige associated with that role.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Theton is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence named Naflame.
- The secondary is a red main sequence named Flame.

System Data[edit]
Theton consists of two separate star systems lying approximately 150 AU apart:
Dariun System
Naflame is the primary star of the Naflame-Flame binary system. A single world orbits around it:
- Dariun, a large, cold, very thin atmosphere ice-covered world lying within the outer system.
Theton System
Flame, the system primary, is the secondary star of the Naflame-Flame binary system. Its system of worlds consists of:
- Theton, a corrosive atmosphere superterran world designated the mainworld and orbiting within the habitable zone.
- Phostin, a small vacuum world orbiting within the outer system.
- The Even Belt, a narrow icy planetoid belt that marks the outer edge of the system.

Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Theton is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Theton has a Corrosive Atmosphere and possesses a concentrated gas mix or unusual temperature which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit. TL–9 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- Ammonia in the upper atmosphere is skimmed daily by fuel shuttles and refined into pure hydrogen fuel (note that the system has no gas giants). The quantity of hydrogen compounds in Theton's atmosphere is slight, however, and it takes several days of skimming to yield a few kilotons of refined hydrogen. Refined fuel on Theton is thus somewhat expensive.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Theton has 95-1005% of its surface covered by a fluid other than water. Wilderness refueling is not possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- This surface fluid may be ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids depending on the local temperature and environment.

- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
World Starport (St)[edit]
Theton has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to an Imperial Naval Base.
World Population (P)[edit]
Theton has a population of 5,000,000 sophonts (millions).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Theton possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Theton is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Theton has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial High & Landed Nobility[edit]
Theton, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial subsector duke, who also conducts affairs regarding the entire subsector at the Interstellar and Imperial level.

- Importance: 1 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 9 (moderate)
- Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 5 (limited)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
World Culture[edit]
