Tauri is a poor, non-agricultural, high-population desert world, with a billion or more sophonts struggling to survive in a inhospitable environment.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- Despite this world's industrial prowess, the world remains poor. Some blame it on the high prices of food, which must be imported. Others blame the nature of a desert world. Whatever the reason, something needs to change in order for this world to prosper.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Vland Subsector of Vland Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
- Tauri is located on the Vilani Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Tauri has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Tauri is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Tauri has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Tauri has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The mainworld is notable as it was the first planet to be visited by Vilani starfarers, before the First Imperium was formed.
- Although originally colonized as a scientific research station, its population has grown to extremes over the millennia.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Tauri has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Tauri has a population of 4,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Tauri possesses a Technology Level of TL–15 or TL-F in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Meson Communicators and Pseudo Reality Communications.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, improved collectors, and advanced Fusion+.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Advanced gravcraft.
- Air: Advanced gravcraft and speeders.
- Space: Advanced gravcraft and G-Carriers.
- FTL: Jump Drive-6.
World Government (G)[edit]
Tauri is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Law (L)[edit]
Tauri has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Tauri, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 3 (ordinary)
Surshi Cloth is considered the epitome of good taste for interior furnishings and commands premium prices.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: D (very abundant)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: F (very comprehensive)
- Efficiency: +3 (improved)
Because of Tauri's strategic position as a first world on the Vilani Main, its economy is supported mainly by banking and commerce flowing through its port, rather than by onworld industries.
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 9 (discordant)
- Acceptance: C (xenophilic)
- Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
- Symbols: F (extremely abstract)
