Razar is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Mimiuudlika Subsector of Verge Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
  • It is a main world which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
  • This world was once known as Stijn.
  • This world lies on the Sirim Loop.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Razar has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Razar is a satellite of a gas giant.[2]

Gas Giant Moons 03.jpg

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Razar is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Razar has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Razar has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Orbiting a vast gas giant in the company of many other moons, Razar has the dubious distinction of being the last moon standing. Another moon named Stijn, for which this system was once named, has faded into a minor settlement for various reasons, leaving the prison facility at Razar and its extensive support structure as the dominant world here.

With a dangerously thin atmosphere and a tidal lock to the gas giant, Razar suffers a considerable swing in diurnal temperature, making it uncomfortably warm during its daylight hours and frigid during night. This is enhanced due to the moon being behind its gas giant for a significant part of its orbit, meaning the inward surface of Razar rarely sees sunlight.

Roughly 5 million souls call Razar home, willingly or not. Most live on the face away from the gas giant, positioned to get sunlight while also not getting too much. The starport is located in a shaded valley near the anti-pole, getting blisteringly hot on the surface. The free populace of Razar, almost entirely Human, is arrayed around the port as industry and topography allow. At the inward "Gas Pole" lies a large Imperial Prison, capable of housing nearly 100,000 inmates across its many compounds. Locked in by the intense cold, eternal night, and occasional radiation storm as much as by the walls and locks of the prison, the population here is rarely at capacity or even close to it; being perched on the edge of the Rift gives this facility a remoteness that works too well, making it too expensive to transport most inmates here.

The Knight Resident position here is frequently held by former Wardens of the prison facility, as reward for holding a thankless and draining position.[3]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Razar has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Razar has a population of 5,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Razar possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government (G)[edit]

Razar is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Razar has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Razar, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.

  • Importance: 1 (ordinary)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: C (very abundant)
  • Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 5 (limited)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)
