Ektorr is a rich world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in size.
- This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
- This world has a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- Most observers think that the planet's economy and population will prosper further in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Khisham Subsector of Massilia Sector in the Domain of Sylea.
- It is a member of the Khisham Cluster.
- At the founding of the Imperium this world was known as Arish.
- This world directly governs Engorr.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Ektorr has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence named Sommenim.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x3 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ektorr is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Ektorr has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Ektorr has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Significant bodies of water include the Dark Sea.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Ektorr is a member of the Khisham Cluster, a minor trade route in the central-coreward part of Massilia Sector.
Aridity and a lack of mineral resources made development on Ektorr unappealing to the Vilani. No substantial colonization efforts were mounted until expanding Terrans claimed the world during the Rule of Man. The population nonetheless grew rapidly in subsequent centuries.
Inefficient manufacturing and service industries have done little to ease the poverty of the masses on Ektorr. However, the Ektorrian interest in bolstering agriculture has resulted in a strong conservation ethic. The planetary government has empowered numerous research groups to study and protect the local biosphere, and many a monarch has taken an interest in such matters. While conspicuous consumption is evident among the public, strict laws ensure respect for the environment.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ektorr has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ektorr has a population of 200,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
Urbanization[edit]
The two principle cities are:
- Grafelko, population 88 million.
- Torneen Central, population 54 million.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Ektorr possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Ektorr is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.
Planetary government rests with a monarch (The Lord High Orr) who both makes and executes local laws. Various specialized judiciaries exist to interpret his statutes.
- Ektorr's inhabitants are conservative in outlook and proud of their centuries-long heritage.
The Lord High Orr of Ektorr is also the Grand Orr of Engorr and rules the world by Royal decree.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ektorr has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Ektorr, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
