Chellis is a low-population garden world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in population size.
- It is a garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most forms of sophontic life.
- Both the population and economy of this world are expected to grow in the near future barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Epshu Subsector of Zarushagar Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- It lies within the Schmidt Cluster.
- It is considered to be part of Darmine Space.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Chellis has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x12 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Chellis is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Chellis has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Chellis has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Chellis is a member of the Schmidt Cluster, a minor trade route in the central-rimward part of Zarushagar Sector.
The world was a part of Darmine Space, a region that survived both the collapse of the Rule of Man and the Long Night largely due to the efforts of the Darmine, who under the aegis of the Darmine Corporate continued to conduct trade and commerce, maintained a degree of law and order, and helped defend against threats. It was not a state, rather a broad area in which the Darmine and others were active: the populations of most of its worlds were of Vilani or Terran descent, with few native Darmine ever being present. Despite this, it is regarded as a Darmine "Golden Age" and most worlds are proud of their association with it. The Darmine Space region was absorbed by the expanding Third Imperium following the Ilelish Pacification Campaign.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Chellis has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Chellis has population of 900 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Chellis possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Chellis is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.
World Law (L)[edit]
Chellis has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Chellis, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.
