• This world has yet to take off economically or otherwise and the population remains low for reasons largely unknown.
• It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Mora Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
• It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.

Carey is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Carey has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

• It experiences relatively high temperatures.
• The atmosphere is tainted by airborne spores.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Carey has 85-95% of its surface covered by liquid water with a few small continents, and a number of islands and archipelagos. Dry land is limited. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Native Lifeforms

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Carey's ecosystem is dominated by a vast array of fungus-like life that blanket the world's small land surface, giving the ground a weirdly alien look. The growths also somehow manage to invade dwellings and the downport despite the best efforts to keep them out. Visitors returning to the highport are required to undergo decontamination procedures before entry to avoid off-world contamination.

History & Background (Dossier)

The merchant line Al Morai has established facilities at the Carey starport in order to keep its routes open for their full length. This installation supplies refined fuel for Al Morai ships and provide all of the capabilities that are present at other Al Morai installations. The fuel and repair facilities are exclusively for the use of Al Morai, and effectively upgrade the class-C starport to class B for Al Morai ships.

World Starport (St)

Carey has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Carey has population of 900 sophonts (hundreds).

• This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
