Attica is a vacuum world, with a complete lack of atmosphere. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a Human dominated Non-Aligned world in the Querion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Attica is a binary star system.

  • The primary is an orange main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
Attica has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Attica is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Attica has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Attica has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

The world government maintains small outposts on the three rocky worlds of the system and in the planetoid belt.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Attica has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Attica has a population of 800,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

The most commonly heard languages are:

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Attica possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Attica is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law (L)[edit]

Attica has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Timeline[edit]

Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:

Historical Overview[edit]

Settlement[edit]

Officially a neutral world at its colonization in the 570s, the world epitomises the Imperial expansion that so threatened the Zhodani Consulate at this period.

First Frontier War[edit]

At the start of the First Frontier War, Attica is a pro-Imperial, neutral world. It is, however, defended by the Imperium so successfully that the world becomes part of the Imperium, as part of the County of Chronor (Briefly) and then (after the peace) the County of Querion.

Second Frontier War[edit]

At the start of the Second Frontier War, Attica is still a part of the Imperium. It is the only world of the County of Querion that survives the Zhodani Consulate's onslaught. At the end of the Second Frontier War, the battered Attica remains a part of the Imperium, becoming part of the County of Arden.

Neutrality[edit]

Between the Second and Third Frontier Wars, the Imperium withdraws from Attica and forces it to become a neutral state.

Third Frontier War[edit]

At the start of the Third Frontier War, Attica remains an independent, but anti-Zhodani state. By the end of the Third Frontier War, Attica is occupied by and annexed to the Zhodani Consulate.

Independence[edit]

Sometime between 986 and 1082, Attica's vehomently hostile population gains independence from the Zhodani Consulate.

Fourth Frontier War[edit]

Attica remained neutral during the Fourth Frontier War

Golden Era[edit]

In spite of Attica's location on the border with the Zhodani Consulate, or perhaps because of it, the world was vehemently Anti-Psionic and Anti-Zhodani before the Collapse. The success of the Regency's Psionic Reforms caused a change in local opinions about psionics, but it has hardened towards the Zhodani. The world should be considered an Amber Zone for Zhodani, though this is only a problem if they ignore local restrictions. For no Zhodani is allowed to land in the downport. Attica's prejudices have hurt its reputation in the Regency, and the world mostly gets by economically through trade with the Federation of Arden.
