Alell is a rich, pre-agricultural world with a moderate population over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in size.
- The world's agricultural industry is growing and some economists forecast an explosion in this world's agribusiness in the near future as new agro-technology and a more capable labor force are imported.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Regina Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- Alell is a member of the Spinward Main.
- It is part of the Regina Cluster.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stars[edit]
Alell is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars.
Binary Solar System
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds. In addition to the mainworld, the inhabited worlds are:
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Alell is 6,400 kilometers in diameter, with a standard atmosphere and approximately 70% of its surface covered with oceans of water. It retains its atmosphere and water thanks to a density that is far higher than scientists thought possible for such a small planet. Whatever the reason, the result is a very pleasant world with reasonable gravity, clean air, fertile soil, and warm shallow seas lined by scores of huge vacation resorts.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Alell is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Alell has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
- It experiences moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Alell has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Alell is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
Alell has a population numbering 203 million as of the census of 1100. Its government is an impersonal bureaucracy. The world, when first colonized, was under the authoritarian rule of the colonization ship captain, and his descendants have continued to rule under the title Captain. The government, responsible to this Captain, provides many necessary functions, but these functions seem to be performed more for the overall good of the world (and the government) than for the individual citizens. The law level on Alell is extremely restrictive and no weapons of any sort are allowed in the possession of individuals. Alell's tech level is A, about average for the interstellar community.
Trake is grown on this world.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Alell has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
Alell Down Starport is classified as type B, providing good quality facilities, with some capacity for ship repair and the construction of interplanetary craft. A Travellers' Aid Society hotel and office is located just outside the starport boundary. Refined fuel is available at Cr500 per ton; unrefined fuel is available at Cr100 per ton.
Alell Down's companion facilities, Alell Orbital Starport, provide services, refueling, and maintenance for unstreamlined ships calling on the world.
In addition to Alell Startown, other major settlements on Alell include Dali, Ekun Town, Imuku, and Agadip.
World Population (P)[edit]
Alell has a population of 200,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Alell possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Alell is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
Alell is a constitutional monarchy under Captain Roger XXII, a direct descendant of the captain of the original colony ship, but the Alell Tourist Authority has a disproportionate amount of influence, and Makhidkarun recently bought a 24% share in the ATA.
World Law (L)[edit]
Alell has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Alell, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of four members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial viscount.

Points of interest[edit]
Barcelona[edit]
Starport bar with a slightly carnival feel. Cocktails with imported real fruit are a house specialty.
Camden Lock[edit]
Another starport bar. Less camp than Barcelona. Regulars visitors who have already been to Barcelona often prefer it.
"Med Central"[edit]
Highport medical facility (owned and operated by First Medical LIC). This is a general hospital with an extensive xenobiology section. It provides medical and quarantine services to the starport.
Colosseum[edit]
Large concert hall in the highport with a capacity of over 5000 seats. Great expense was taken to get the acoustics of the hall just right. Behind the stage is a three story safety-filtered viewport which can be shuttered or reveal space. One of the specialties of the Colosseum (and a tourist draw) is a live orchestral performance coinciding with sunrise over Alell with fresh spring scents released into the air at appropriate points. When not in use for public performances the hall is sometimes used as a sound recording stage for some of Naasirka Entertainment's more elaborate productions.
