Subsector B of Gateway Sector.

Description[edit]

There are no mains or significant clusters in Atoon, making commerce problematic.

About half of the subsector is the territory of the Hochiken People's Assembly. Most of the worlds in this politically troubled nation are designated Amber Zones.

Summary[edit]

Atoon, subsector B of Gateway, contains 19 worlds with an estimated combined population of 13 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,595, and a total economy of BCr60,291. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr472 through 17 starports (3 Class A, 3 Class B, 8 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 103,525 people. Driving this interstellar trade are three Agricultural (Ag) worlds, two Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, three Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, two Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Atoon maintain two Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 9). The highest technology level is 10 at Guntar (Gateway 1101), Aldo (Gateway 1108), Granth (Gateway 1601), and Duresthan (Gateway 1609).

Atoon, subsector B of Gateway, contains 29 stars and 222 identified planets; nine monostellar systems, ten binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 14 of the 19 systems (73%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, no Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, three Poor (Po) worlds, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and two Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Atoon has an estimated population of 13 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, nine Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, two Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Granth (Gateway 1601) and Guntar (Gateway 1101). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Hochiken People's Assembly[edit]

The Hochiken People's Assembly has jurisdiction over 11 worlds in this subsector, with an estimated combined population of 12 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,664, and a total economy of BCr60,030. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr470 through 10 starports (2 Class A, 1 Class B, 5 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 103,060 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, one Non-Agricultural (Na) world, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, three Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 6 and 10). The highest technology level is 10 at Guntar (Gateway 1101), Granth (Gateway 1601), and Duresthan (Gateway 1609).

The Hochiken People's Assembly has an estimated population of 12 billion within this subsector, distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, two Moderate population (Ph) worlds, five Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, no Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Granth (Gateway 1601) and Guntar (Gateway 1101). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Non-Aligned, Human-dominated[edit]

There are eight Non-Aligned Human-dominated worlds in Atoon with an estimated combined population of 250 million.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Some of the coreward systems in Atoon were originally, if presumptively, claimed by the K'kree of Star's End Sector. When the Hochiken People's Assembly began rapidly expanding, this caused some alarm. Not truly prepared for war, the Star's End K'kree pragmatically decided that if they hadn't gotten around to using those worlds in two thousand years, they probably didn't need them. They drew the line there, however, letting the Hochiken leadership know in clear terms that there would be no further real estate transfers. That state of affairs has held ever since, making the coreward border ironically the most peaceful and stable in the Assembly.
