Allal is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Opposition Alliance in the Khuulu Subsector of Meshan Sector, which is part of the Vargr Extents.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- It is a member of the Khuulu Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Allal has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x11 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Allal is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Allal has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Allal has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Allal was claimed by the Vilani millennia ago and was eventually absorbed into the Ziru Sirka. It was nominally under the authority of the Rule of Man prior to the Long Night.
- It has ruins and remains on its surface dating to before the founding of the Ziru Sirka.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Allal has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Allal has a population of 60,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population largely consists of Vargr.
- Humans and other sophonts may also be encountered.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Allal possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Allal has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
World Law (L)[edit]
Allal has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 0 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 0 (extremely aloof)
- Strangeness: 0 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 0 (somewhat abstract)
World Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:
- -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims and settles worlds across the region.
- -3810: the Vargr discover jump technology and begin an era of expansion.
- -3700s onwards: waves of Vargr settle worlds across the region.
- -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man nominally administers the rimward worlds of the region. Conflicts escalate between Vargr and humans as the Vargr occupy former Ziru Sirka territory.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night. There is widespread regression within the area and some worlds become barren.
- -1658: the Sack of Gashikan, an atrocity known throughout the coreward parts of Charted Space.
- -1427: the Wolvesbane plague is released in Gashikan Sector, decimating Vargr populations.
- The Year 0: to rimward, the Third Imperium is founded.
- circa 26: the Empire of Varroerth is founded.
- circa 170: the various Ruler of Five precursor states begin a centuries-long war of dominance.
- 300-420: the Imperial First Survey charts the system.
- circa 500: the Ruler of Five Confederation draws up its charter, establishing the state in its current form.
- mid 800s: the Opposition Alliance is founded and rapidly admits many of the neutral worlds around it.
- late 800s: the Ngath Confederation begins to form and gradually absorbs neutral worlds and smaller polities.
- 995-1065: the Imperial Second Survey charts the system.
- circa 1040: the 17th Disjuncture is founded and rapidly brings neutral worlds under its banner, directly competing with the Ngath Confederation.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the system becomes widely available.
- 1078: the Third Empire of Gashikan forms.
