It is in many ways a successor to the Sylean Federation.

This cultural zone has many high-tech worlds, but the Syleans are understated when it comes to technology. A key tenet of their culture is that technology is best when seamlessly integrated, and shouldn't detract from important things in life like quiet contemplation, religious worship, and family.

Legal Data

Sylean marriage customs (which include polygamy and concubinage) are the must likely points of contention with mainstream Imperial law. Syleans also come into frequent conflict with strong intellectual-property laws, and are sometimes regarded as thieves or pirates in societies that enforce such laws.

History & Background (Dossier)

While they were instrumental in the founding of the Third Imperium, the Syleans were a tiny minority at its outset. They later embarked upon an aggressive population expansion project in Kaskii Subsector.

There remains a cultural rift between the Sylean Worlds and a group known as the Wayward Worlds. The Wayward Worlds are not an official district, but have a unique history that has some carryover to modern times. These were the worlds that were part of the Sylean Federation at the dawn of the Third Imperium but chose initially to reject Imperial membership.

In the aftermath of the Civil War, the leadership of the Sylean Worlds held a conference on Khuir, where they decided as a group to pursue the demilitarisation of their cultural zone.
