Bhu'oovaakaylaa
A sophont species and Minor Race, native to Khiinra Ash. They are long-lived non-humanoids.
Evolving in the deep canyons of their world, where the atmosphere becomes thick enough to support advanced life, the Bhu'oovaakayla have an internal gas bladder that, when filled, allows them to float.
Physiology[edit]
Bhu'oovaakaylaa have a thick, elongated body with rear flippers for swimming, an armoured carapace on their dorsal surface, and a head-like structure at the front. This head features four eyes that wrap most of the way around, providing 270 degree vision.
For manipulation, Bhu'oovaakaylaa have two dextrous appendages that end in three fingers and an opposable thumb.
The species has two sexes, with females slightly larger. Both weigh about four tons. Females bear live young, usually in litters of two or three, which are immediately mobile upon birth.
Political Relations[edit]
The Bhu'oovaakaylaa are non-spacefaring -- currently at approximately TL-2 with some tool manufacturing that extends to TL-3 -- but are in regular contact with the Third Imperium. They are a friendly species, initially contacted by Vilani scouts thousands of years ago. The high gravity makes their world uncomfortable for Humans but the Bhu'oovaakaylaa welcome expeditions when they do arrive. While few have ever left the planet -- due to their size and highly specified adaptations -- they welcome the idea that they are members of an interstellar community. The Bhu'oovaakaylaa enjoy speaking with visitors of all races.
