Zaekong is a non-agricultural, pre-industrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • Its economy and population are slowly growing and living conditions are expected to improve in the near future barring outside forces.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by Vargr sophonts located in the Ourrvikh Subsector of Tuglikki Sector.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Zaekong is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Zaekong has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Zaekong has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Zaekong has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

  • The world is host to a Vargr Corsair Base.
  • Vargr starports reflect the variety of Vargr architecture, with many disparate styles of building, each having their own unique ornamentation and gaudy colour scheme, and all competing for the attention of the onlooker. Emblems for the major shipping lines and port facilities abound.

World Population (P)[edit]

Zaekong has a population of 20,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

  • The population entirely consists of Vargr.

Urbanization[edit]

Vargr cities are lively and chaotic, full of garish colours and loud noises. Streets are packed and buildings press together. Vehicle traffic is fast and chaotic; the accident rate is low only because of superior Vargr reflexes. Zoning codes are rare, and districts jumble together.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Zaekong possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Zaekong is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

World Law (L)[edit]

Zaekong has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 2 (ordinary)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: C (very abundant)
  • Labor: 6 (millions)
  • Infrastructure: B (very extensive)
  • Efficiency: +5 (very advanced)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: A (discordant)
  • Acceptance: 9 (friendly)
  • Strangeness: 8 (very confusing)
  • Symbols: D (very abstract)
