System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Squee'tak is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Squee'tak has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Squee'tak has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

The world's name comes from the Na'ans language of the Suerrat.

Around -8100, the Suerrat on the world were the first to make contact with another advanced civilisation, when a Vilani exploratory trader arrived in the system.

During the Rule of Man Squee'tak became home to a small population of Terran Dolphins, transplanted to the world as part of a long-term military project, although the reasons for this course of action were kept secret at the time and still remain unclear. The Dolphin and Suerrat populations had generally good relations. They lived in separate, isolated societies that rarely had contact, largely due to geographical difficulties presented by each race's preferred environments. The last confirmed meeting between the two races occurred around 100: the Dolphin population appeared to number in the thousands and as best as can be discerned, everything seemed normal.

  • No Dolphins are believed to remain on the world, apparently having become extinct sometime after that last meeting.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Squee'tak has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Squee'tak has a population of 30,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).

Languages[edit]

The following languages are most typically heard:

Urbanization[edit]

Suerrat cities are very crowded. Suerrat populations are at a density where other species find the mental health of the inhabitants deteriorates; by contrast, Suerrat thrive in these conditions.

  • Suerrat like natural surroundings and will incorporate vegetation and even small animals into their urban areas, wherever possible.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Squee'tak possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Squee'tak is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.

Squee'tak is also part of the Suerrat Cultural Region. The Suerrat United Worlds Council is funded through payments of all member worlds, calculated based on each world's population and economic wealth; it also receives voluntary donations from large organisations and businesses, both within and without the cultural zone.

World Law (L)[edit]

Squee'tak has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Squee'tak, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.

Military[edit]

For peacekeeping purposes, the Suerrat United Worlds Council can request troops and vessels volunteered from member worlds to be deployed under its purview, but only within the boundaries of the Suerrat Cultural Region.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -2 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: D (very abundant)
  • Labor: 6 (millions)
  • Infrastructure: 6 (limited)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Heterogenity: 9 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: 5 (very aloof)
  • Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
  • Symbols: A (abstract)
