Sath Alliance Military Forces
The Sath Alliance Military Forces are a military force that operates on behalf of the Sath, an advanced sophont species of the Distant Fringe.
- It is an interstellar navy and fleet organization.
- Please also see AAB article: Warships of the Distant Fringe.
Details (Specifications)[edit]
Each ship has a detailed description. The ship's tonnage is noted in "dTons", a contraction of Displacement Tons.
- Starships within the Distant Fringe utilize DeVoss-type jump drives, limited to a performance of jump-2 (the so-called Jump-2 Barrier).
Introduction[edit]
There are four Military Bases which support Sath Alliance military operations. These are located at:
Three bases support the Shikh’aa Faction
The Ka’sa Faction and the Khas'ahi Faction share power in the Sha’a cluster. Their ships are built at shipyards on Ik'sath.
The largest state in the Distant Fringe. The Sath Alliance is made up of territory controlled by rival factions. The three main Factions are:
- The Ka’sa Faction, dominating the main part of the Sha’a cluster.
- The Khas'ahi Faction, controlling the trailing edge of the Sha’a cluster.
- The Shikh’aa Faction, controlling the whole of the K’shek cluster
- It is a loose confederation riven by Factional politicking and petty rivalries.
- The current head of state is A’cha, Issh’t’ka of the Sath and Issha of the Infinite Heavens.
- An independent force is located on Kaashik (world), they have equipped the Scion Light Brigade.
Ik'sath Military Base[edit]
Ik'sath (Sarudis Subsector, Far Home 2333 A302778–B), Port Capacity 60,000 dTons
[edit]
The fleet consists of the following TL–11 ships:
- Two 6,000 ton As'ah class Fleet Tenders
- Three 1,000 ton Sha'a class Destroyers
- Two 12,000 ton Ka'sch class Battle Cruisers
- Ten 100 ton Kaashik class Raiders
- Two 60,000 ton Hellworld class Merchant Cruisers
- These ships can carry a total of eight fighter squadrons with ten Sath class Medium Fighters each.
Military Formations[edit]
Army six divisions with 120 battalions, Marine brigade with 12 battalions
- Sath Alliance Grav Tanks are used in companies of ten with 30 crew
- Sath Alliance Grav APCs are used in companies of ten with 20 crew and 60 dismount troopers.
- Sath Alliance Air Rafts are used in companies of ten with 40 crew
Battalion formations have one artillery battery of ten vehicles with 8 SPGs, a FDC and a support/ammo vehicle. They have one HQ/Support unit with medical, mess, supply and maintenance functions. They have two grav tank companies, one scout/recon troop and at least two infantry companies. This is 400 soldiers and 70 vehicles.
The vehicles are heavily armored and pretty fast. They are very expensive and well equipped with sensors and communication gear. The air rafts are used for recon missions and for point defense protection of heavier assets. The first two both use the same basic chassis and turret with a plasma gun, but the tank carries heavy TAC missiles in lieu of troops. They require extensive electronic maintenance from at least two trained technicians with the appropriate tool kits per vehicle. The fuel for the tanks is limited to 2.3 hours of endurance, which restricts operational range. The six trooper infantry squad is small, with a leader NCO with good commo gear, a medic, a portable light TAC missile team, and a pair of scout snipers with laser rifles. The scouts must target designate for the squad's small TAC missiles and for the tank's heavy missiles because the tanks don't carry their own lasers. They are also forward observers for the battalion artillery battery and any available ortillery from close support gunboats. They use high performance homing missiles with HE warheads versus fast air targets and target designated HEAP warhead missiles versus enemy armor.
Vehicle crews typically wear CES with slung caseless 8.9mm SMGs, a combat blade and a few grenades (smoke and HE) in case they have to abandon a vehicle. Drop Capsule equipped marines typically have combat armor, laser rifles and TAC missiles. Army units use CES, grenade launchers and ACRs.

They are equipped Sath Alliance Crawlers, these vehicles combine some scouting/cavalry functions with some combat engineering abilities. They are well armored, reasonably armed, but no expense was spared. They require extensive electronic maintenance from at least two trained technicians with the appropriate tool kits. The fuel is limited to less than 5 hours of endurance, which restricts operational range. The engine is an air-breather and will not function on vacuum worlds. The crew has over pressure versus NBC threats, but no life support.

- Two As'ah class Fleet Tenders
- They carry four fighter squadrons, each squadron is equipped with ten Sath class Medium Fighters.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Due to their initial failures dealing with the human interlopers, these forces have redoubled their efforts to build unassailable defensive formations at key worlds. They clan task forces are deployed judiciously to avoid defeat in detail at the hands of larger, more advanced alien forces. They rely on extensive probing and scouting, to ensure that they only strike when they have a clear, decisive and overwhelming advantage. They continuously test and challenge the resolve of any foreign warships which stray into their territory.
They are currently investigating the feasibility of building a truly massive class of fleet tender which would facilitate the deployment of their Thaakh class Monitors, from a defensive into an offensive strike package. Transports of that size will represent an enormous strain on tenuous unified fleet logistical cooperation.
