Ochecate is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
- Ochecate is a member of the Spinward Main.
- It lies on the Collace Arm.
- Officially this world is controlled by Kuai Qing: in actuality, it is a colony of Mewey.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stars[edit]
Ochecate is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
Binary Solar System
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds. The innermost planet is named Uhmwun. This Hellworld is earmarked for potential mining operations but the technology required remains beyond the Mewey Empire's current capabilities.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies towards the outer part of the zones prime H region.
- It receives moderate to low levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ochecate is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Ochecate has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It experiences low to moderate temperatures.
- The atmosphere is tainted by an airborne disease known as Ochecate Flu or Grey Lung.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Ochecate has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- The world's oceans are littered with icebergs and pack ice.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Ochecate is noted for its lush grasslands and forests, supporting the robust agricultural trade of the Mewey Empire.
Herbivorous fauna constitutes most land-dwelling animals, including numerous species of rodents (see also: Ochecate Flu). The inland seas and mangrove swamps, meanwhile, teem with an abundance of lifeforms, including an aquatic mammalian predator capable of reaching 40 metres in length.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Ochecate was colonized in 1080 by Mewey (Spinward Marches 0838) with Aslan assistance.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ochecate has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ochecate has a population of 200,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The vast majority of the population are Mewey colonists, sophonts native to the neighboring world of Mewey.
- A number of Aslan and their dependents are present on the world, chiefly serving as technical advisers.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
Urbanization[edit]
The capital city, Mwand'reh, developed around the starport and the colony's original landing site. Rudimentary roads and shuttles service nearby settlements but general travel is troublesome. Due to the world's tainted atmosphere, most structures are sealed and interconnected, forcing the population to live in close quarters.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Ochecate possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Ochecate has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ochecate has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).

- Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 7 (few)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: -1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 6 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
- Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
