Mewey is a rich, agricultural garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Five Sisters Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
- Mewey is a member of the Spinward Main.
- It lies on the Collace Arm.
- It is the homeworld of the Mewey.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Mewey is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giant: Kiai'mau. It has 21 moons; rudimentary bases, fuel depots and mining settlements dot these smaller bodies.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Mewey is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Mewey has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences generally moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Mewey has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Native Sophont[edit]
The Mewey are a humanoid minor race native to the world. They somewhat resemble a Satyr, a creature from Terran mythology.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Mewey is the homeworld of the Mewey, a minor race who had steadily created a world government and developed nuclear power before being contacted by Aslan ihatei. The Aslan were given a large island chain in return for space technology, which has allowed their expansion beyond a single system. Minor outposts are scattered about the home system, serviced by relatively primitive space vehicles.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Mewey has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- This starport is located in an equatorial island province, known as Katau.
- It features an impressive salvage yard, where the Mewey Empire amass wrecks and decommissioned ships for reverse engineering.
World Population (P)[edit]
Mewey has a population of 70,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
- The vast majority of the population are native Mewey
- A number of small Aslan communities exist on the world.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Mewey possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Mewey is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
Although each city state has political autonomy, their administrative entities adhere to the Mewey Empire's common laws. Internal clan and community issues are overseen by a city-state's administrative body. Conflicts and disagreements between city-states are presented to the Empire's council, known as the Anginkeh.
World Law (L)[edit]
Mewey has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 9 (moderate)
- Labor: 6 (millions)
- Infrastructure: 7 (generally available)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 8 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 7 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
- Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
