Subsector P of Leonidae Sector, named for the eponymous homeworld of the Dynchia.

Description[edit]

The subsector is split between the Dynchia Comitia, the Ithklur Aexzz, and neutral space between them. Once the site of long wars between these two fearless combatants, for many centuries an honourable peace has held between them, following Hiver-negotiated settlement.

Subsector Summary: 1116[edit]

Melantris, subsector P of Leonidae, contains 34 worlds with an estimated combined population of 48 billion, a per capita income of Cr15,411, and a total economy of BCr754,103. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr10,029 through 22 starports (12 Class A, 4 Class B, 4 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 1,143,535 people. Driving this interstellar trade are seven Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Melantris maintain five Naval bases, four Scout bases, and one Naval depot. The average technology level is 7 (with most between 1 and 12). The highest technology level is 16 at Aakigku (Leonidae 2739).

Melantris, subsector P of Leonidae contains no stars and no identified planets; no monostellar systems, no binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 24 of the 34 systems (70%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, one Desert (De) world, no Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, no Poor (Po) worlds, four Vacuum (Va) worlds, and four Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Melantris has an estimated population of 48 billion distributed across six High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, no Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 15 Low population (Lo) worlds, and 11 Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Aakigku (Leonidae 2739) and Aagmigi (Leonidae 3239). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups (Dynchia of Melantris, Humaniti of Terra, Ithklur of Tryylin).

Ithklur Aexzz[edit]

The Ithklur Aexzz has jurisdiction over 19 worlds within the subsector, with an estimated combined population of 44 billion, a per capita income of Cr16,278, and a total economy of BCr730,496. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr9,907 through 19 starports (11 Class A, 3 Class B, 3 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 1,130,220 people. Driving this interstellar trade are six Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in the Ithklur Aexzz maintain four Scout bases and four Naval bases within the subsector. The average technology level is 10 (with most between 7 and 13). The highest technology level is 16 at Aakigku (Leonidae 2739).

The Ithklur Aexzz has an estimated population of 44 billion within the subsector, distributed across five High population (Hi) worlds, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, no Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, three Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population worlds are Aakigku (Leonidae 2739) and Aagmigi (Leonidae 3239). The population consists primarily of 1 sophont group.

Unknown[edit]

The Unknown has jurisdiction over 11 worlds with an estimated combined population of less than 1 million, a per capita income of Cr0, and a total economy is BCr0. Driving this economy are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds.

The Unknown has no inhabitants.

Dynchia Comitia[edit]

The Dynchia Comitia has jurisdiction over four worlds in Melantris with an estimated combined population of 4 billion. The population consists primarily of two sophont groups, including a native sophont.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Dynchia Comitia originated in this subsector.

Solomani contact with the Dynchia came in the latter days of the Rule of Man. Long-distance traders encountered the Dynchia, who at that time had achieved TL-8 and were beginning to reach into space. Solomani were stranded in the region by the Long Night. Most adapted without trouble, and within a few generations the local Solomani population were Dynchia in all but appearance. The success of the Third Imperium eventually brought Human traders back to the region, but the Imperial core was sufficiently distant that no attempt to annex or control the Dynchia Comitia was made. By the time reliable links were formed, around 802, the Human population of the Comitia identified far more with their local culture than some distant empire.

Linguistic Topography: 1105[edit]

The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:

  • Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many human worlds; in this region, mostly variant dialects.
  • Dynchia Standard: The common language of the Dynchia and the official language of the Dynchia Comitia.
    • It is a common secondary language on many non-Dynchia worlds.
  • Gurvin: The common language of the Hive Federation and a secondary language in many of its client states. Gurvin-speaking traders are common.
  • Ithkluri: The common language of the Ithklur, and used in conjunction with Gurvin throughout the Hive Federation and adjacent space.
  • Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many human worlds; in this region, mostly variant dialects.
