Subsector L of Leonidae Sector.
Description[edit]
Balneario contains a number of non-aligned worlds maintaining trade ties with the Dynchia. A star cluster on the trailing side of the subsector forms its own closed economy, dominated by the four billion people of the Hyumian homeworld Iriri (Leonidae 2925) and its dictatorial government, along with the naval forces of Wonee Hi just across the border in Extolian Sector.
Subsector Summary: 1116[edit]
Balneario, subsector L of Leonidae, contains 27 worlds with an estimated combined population of 4 billion, a per capita income of Cr3,594, and a total economy of BCr17,827. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr119 through 15 starports (0 Class A, 8 Class B, 3 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 13,060 people. Driving this interstellar trade are five Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Balneario maintain two Military bases, and two Naval bases. The average technology level is 5 (with most between 2 and 9). The highest technology level is 11 at Lipton (Leonidae 2626), Iriri (Leonidae 2925), Sisiza (Leonidae 3125), and Igarin (Leonidae 3224).
Balneario, subsector L of Leonidae, contains thirty-six stars; 20 monostellar systems, five binary systems, two trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 23 of the 27 systems (85%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, three Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, no Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, no Poor (Po) worlds, no Vacuum (Va) worlds, and three Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.
Balneario has an estimated population of 4 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, no Moderate population (Ph) worlds, no Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, 13 Low population (Lo) worlds, and six Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Iriri (Leonidae 2925). The population consists primarily of 3 sophont groups (Dynchia of Melantris, Humaniti of Terra, Hyumian of Iriri).
Dynchia Comitia[edit]
The Dynchia Comitia has jurisdiction over two worlds in this subsector, with an estimated combined population of three million.
Non-Aligned[edit]
There are 19 Non-Aligned worlds in Balneario with an estimated combined population of 4 billion.
Unknown[edit]
The Unknown has jurisdiction over six worlds with an estimated combined population of less than 1 million, a per capita income of Cr0, and a total economy is BCr0. Driving this economy are no Agricultural (Ag) worlds, no Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, no Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, no Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, no Rich (Ri) worlds, and no Industrial (In) worlds.
The Unknown has no inhabitants.

The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many human worlds; in this region, mostly variant dialects.
- Dynchia Standard: The common language of the Dynchia and the official language of the Dynchia Comitia.
- It is a common secondary language on many non-Dynchia worlds.
- Gurvin: The common language of the Hive Federation and a secondary language in many of its client states.
- Hiver Sign Language
- Ithkluri: The common language of the Ithklur, and used in conjunction with Gurvin throughout the Hive Federation and adjacent space.
- Vilani: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium and common to many human worlds; in this region, mostly variant dialects.
Major Historical Events Timeline: 1116[edit]
These are some of the more important historical events that have affected this area:
- 300,000 years ago: The Ancients bring the ancestors of the Dynchia to Melantris.
- -2200: Dynchia experience an Industrial Revolution.
- -1926: Melantris launches its first space probes.
- -1820: The Dynchia have achieved a TL-8 spacefaring culture. Soon after, Solomani arrive and make contact, bringing with them the jump drive.
- During the collapse of the Rule of Man, a number of Solomani migrate into the Melantris region. Some Solomani settlements are incorporated into the Dynchia society.
- Around this time, the Hyumian gain the jump drive from Human migrants.
- Circa -1500: The Dynchia contact the Ithklur Aexzz.
- After several centuries of skirmishing and cross-border vendettas, the Hive Federation intervenes.
- Circa -1200: The princes of the 12 most prominent tribes meet in Council to establish the Dynchia Comitia.
- -1056: The Hivers mediate a comprehensive peace between the Comitia and the Ithklur Aexzz, which sets the border of Dynchia expansion to trailing.
- Circa 800: The first traders from the Third Imperium arrive in Dynchia space by way of the Harodar Hegemony to coreward.
