Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Tryylin is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere[edit]

Tryylin has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Tryylin has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

  • K'ktapka: A colour-changing reptile-like creature
  • Kok*hon: A parasitic animal known for its filthiness and lack of intelligence.

Native Sophonts[edit]

This is the homeworld of the Ithklur.

Ithklur are descended from carnivore-pouncers inhabiting a large, sparsely-forested plain in the temperate zone of Tryylin. It is not certain what stimulated the Ithklur to intelligence, tool-use, and civilization. The Ithklur maintain that "they are what they are", which is less than helpful.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The homeworld of the species serving as the Hive Federation's primary military force, Tryylin is part of the Ithklur Cultural Reserve, a Federation sub-polity dedicated to Ithklur culture.

"Tryylin" is the planet's Gurvin, and thus standard, name. The native name is Eethk*kkaa, a variation of the Ithklur term for themselves, "Ithklur" or "lizard" and means "place where the lizards come from."

The planet gives its name to the Tryylin Watch, a region of Hive Federation operations.

World Starport[edit]

Tryylin has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Tryylin has a population of 400,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

  • The population is almost entirely Ithklur.

World Languages[edit]

World Technology Level[edit]

Tryylin possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Tryylin has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Tryylin has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Culture[edit]

To the mainstream Ithklur culture, the highest goal of any individual is awareness of one's true nature. That nature, being truth, has inherent integrity and is incorruptible. The Ithklur belief in a supreme power, called "the ultimate concern", does not follow patterns of ritualized worship. To live in the present moment, for there may never be another, is a key virtue.

  • All Ithklur are considered to be a member of one of two groups: the elementary (Brunnen) or the enlightened (D*vakken). The latter have discovered their true nature and have taken on greater responsibility as a result.

Historical Data[edit]

When contact between Hivers and Ithklur occurred in -3986, the Ithklur had already developed in-system spaceflight, and represented the most advanced intelligence the Hivers had encountered in their 600 years of interstellar exploration. United under a single government, the Ithklur had advanced to TL-8 or 9, and were in the process of colonizing the system when the first Hiver ships attempted to establish trade.
