Flexos is a nonindustrial, fluidic hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the District 268 Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- Flexos is a member of the Spinward Main.
- It lies on the Bowman Arm.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Flexos is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars named Girehredh and Onu respectively.
- They are close companions.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld, orbiting close to the two stars. It has an elliptical orbit influenced by the superterran secondary world Bagimeh.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds. These are:
- tiny Nilungedh-Obhekeny (typically shortened to Nilungedh) and Gihlabhanih (typically shortened to Gihlabh), with elliptical orbits matching that of Bagimeh.
- Bagihmeh, a superterran world with three large moons that influences the orbits of all the other worlds in the system.
- Dizeneh, a large cold world with a very thin abiotic atmosphere and a single large moon.
- Leyr, an outer system vacuum world with three tiny planetoid moons.
- Larger Gugh and smaller Ldeh, frozen binary worlds spiralling around one another at the fringe of the system.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- the Asagh Belt, a sparse icy belt lying in the far outer system.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Flexos is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Flexos has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Flexos has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- The water on the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
- Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.
Satellites[edit]
Flexos retains two small vacuum moons.
- The innermost is a tiny planetoid a few tens of kilometers in diameter named Rerihld.
- The outer is a large vacuum world named Dinetas.
- They orbit once every few days.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Flexos is a low-population backwater typical of the region. With only 60,000 people in its mid-tech communities, and further handicapped by having to contend with an exotic atmosphere, the world exports little and can afford few imports. Without substantial offworld investment Flexos will probably remain at the subsistence level forever.
Investment in such a marginal world tends to be cheap (though it is often not worth doing anyway). This may be one reason why a variety of survey teams and explorers have recently arrived on Flexos. There are rumors of chemical- extraction processes that may turn Flexos’ fluid oceans into an economic asset, but no hard data is available.
Assisting in the terraforming process are a group of Darrian scientists. A number of small Aslan prides have also chosen Flexos as their new home.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Flexos has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Flexos has a population of 60,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Flexos possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Flexos is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
World Military[edit]
Flexos has a small permanent military force that is armed with portable energy weapons such as Laser Rifles that have been smuggled in from off-planet since it does not have the technology to build its own. Apart from the Laser Rifles, the arsenal of this army consists mostly of projectile weapons and should be chosen from the Planetary Defense Force (PDF) lists.
There is also a Planetary Militia. All citizens must undertake basic training (usually 1 year) followed by a minimum of two weeks' training each year thereafter. The Planetary Militia are organized the same as the Gaea Prime PDF.
World Law (L)[edit]
Flexos has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
Flexos Police Force[edit]
The Police Force on Flexos consists of temporarily serving militia members and is treated exactly as the Planetary Militia, except that, when on patrol, they will carry Pistols and Nightsticks (One-handed Weapon) rather than Assault Rifles. One Shotgun is carried in each Police Cruiser too. Thanks to the off-world smugglers, the police have Comm Links.
Tactical Response Units[edit]
The Tactical Response Units are a special branch of the police. They will arrive on the scene with heavy firepower, and should be treated exactly as the Flexos Planetary Militia, with the same range of weapons, although high-explosives will tend not to be used, because of damage to property. Like the police, they have Comm Links.
Trade Data[edit]
