The Dakaar class Freighter is a merchant starship. It is a common sight in the Reaver's Deep Sector plying its trade.

Description[edit]

Dakaar class freighters are based upon a design first developed by Starstream Enterprises on Caledon (Reaver's Deep 1815). They are a popular merchant vessel for long-range exploratory trade in the Reavers' Deep. The starships have excellent range and sufficient cargo capacity for profitable operations among the various independent worlds of the Deep. Scorned as undergunned by some safety conscious merchants, they are nonetheless sturdy workhorses of the Caledonian merchant marine.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Various groups outside the Principality of Caledon purchased a number of the freighters. The Aariskin Corporation of Ildrissar (Reaver's Deep 2326) owned eight (one, the Drenslaar, was lost in 1110), the Carrillian Assembly government shipping line, Carellines, Ltd., owns a handful and several independent corporations also own ships of the class.

Variants[edit]

The Dakaar-3 variant upgrades the Jump Drive (and fuel system) to Jump-3, sacrificing 250 tons of cargo space for the additional range.

The Dakaar-A variant converts the ship to a Type A Trader by converting 250 tons of cargo space into 20 staterooms for passengers, 24 low berths, and the addition of 4 stewards.
