Condyole is a nonindustrial, fluidic hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Jewell Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- It is the homeworld of the Vexx, a minor human race.
- A community of Vargr reside on the world.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Condyole has a solitary primary star.
- It is a white main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Condyole is a hell world with seas of tainted liquid water. Until a thousand years ago it was pleasant and rich with life: in 207 a global-scale ecological and enviromnental cataclysm overtook the world, triggered by a series of nuclear accidents in Vexx facilities.
It orbits within the prime region of its star's habitable zone.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Condyole is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
- The world is seismically and volcanically active.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Condyole has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The world has a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere, but with a low oxygen "taint" and very high surface pressures (in excess of 3.5 atm).
- It experiences very high temperatures.
- The atmosphere contains significant traces of gases of volcanic origin, including sulfur dioxide (SO2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen chloride (HCl), and hydrogen fluoride (HF).
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Condyole has 05-15% of its surface covered by small lakes and seas of liquid water heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- The water on the surface may be unsuitable for use or consumption without extensive filtering and purification.
- Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
A wide variety of native life that has been able to adapt to the hostile environment their world has become. They occupy a wide range of ecological niches, and their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Native Sophont[edit]
Condyole is the homeworld of the Vexx, a minor human race placed on the world by the Ancients around 300,000 years ago. Little is known about their origins and history.
Condyole used to be a world of vast oceans and beautiful horizons but at some point in its history a cataclysmic event turned it into the dry wasteland it is now. The air is poisonous and the water is foul. [2] The world was once something of a paradise, with a breathable atmosphere, substantially more surface water (though it was still relatively arid), and a huge variety of native life. A series of nuclear disasters in 207 destabilized the entire world, causing a global environmental catastrophe. Most higher organisms became extinct and dwelling on the surface became impossible for the surviving Vexx. Since then, the population have inhabited sprawling, self-sufficient underground facilities.
Although Non-Aligned, the system's location behind the Riverland Wall gives the Zhodani Consulate and the Vargr more access than the Third Imperium.
The population of Condoyle are crowded into underground habitats to escape the harsh surface conditions. With its position near the Vargr Extents, but outside any empire, the world is often seen as a pirates' den with authorities that are easily swayed by Vargr organized crime. Rumors persist of a pirate base in the outer system.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Condyole has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Condyole has a population of 900,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population largely consists of Vexx.
- A large community of Vargr traders dwell on the world.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are most commonly heard:
- Gvegh, a widely spoken Vargr language. Many dialects exist.
- Local Vexx languages.
- Zdetl, the language of the Zhodani and the Zhodani Consulate.
Urbanization[edit]
The Vexx inhabit crowded underground habitats. Each settlement has a number of wells that draw untainted water from deep underground. The wells are usually located in the larger caverns that serve as market places and public concourses. Each habitat also has a dedicated hydroponics garden to create a sustainable environment in which to grow food.
The capital city is Korondia, located approximately 20 kilometres from the starport. Like most Vexx settlements, it is subterranean.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Condyole possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Condyole is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
World Law (L)[edit]
Condyole has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

Later Historical Eras[edit]
History-Era: Milieu 1120[edit]
Condyole is a pirates’ den that has recently fallen under the control of Vargr organized crime.
History-Era: New Era[edit]
Condyole is a minor Spinward State not within the envelope of the Zhodani, Regency, and Aslan spheres of influence. The world trades directly with the Vargr Extents, and contains large Vargr trading communities. Because of the essentially uncontrolled Vargr presence, Condyole is considered a rather lawless and dangerous environment.
