Bindar is a nonindustrial fluid world.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a member of The Protectorate in the Taemerlyk Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Bindar has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a turbulent white giant, named Rollaron.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Bindar is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Bindar has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

  • The atmosphere is principally nitrogen (N2) and ammonia (NH3), with trace amounts of hydrogen and other gases.
  • High altitude gases including bromine (Br) stain the upper atmosphere a brownish color.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Bindar has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice heavily tainted with other substances, which makes it dangerous, corrosive, or toxic. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.

  • The water on the surface is composed of aqua ammonia (NH4OH).
  • Refining for fuel may cause issues with shipboard purification plants.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

  • Urban centers are marked in red: see Urbanization for additional details.
  • The starport is marked by a red cross.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

The system's huge primary star causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Bindar has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Bindar has a population of 6,000,000 sophonts (millions).

Urbanization[edit]

Domed cities are dotted across the surface of the world:

  • (1) Dome Darmath, (2) Dome Tolöl, (3) Dome Janos, (4) Dome Logon, (5) Dome Mollöl, (6) Dome Kolot, (7) ruins of Dome Hecatus.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Bindar possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Bindar is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Bindar has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

  • Resources: 9 (moderate)
  • Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 5 (limited)
  • Efficiency: -1 (average)

The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.

  • Heterogenity: 4 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 7 (aloof)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
