Regalia is a poor, low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Regalia is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a turbulent white subgiant named Brothers A.
  • The secondary is a yellow main sequence named Brothers B.
Regalia has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Regalia is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Regalia has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Regalia has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

A basic map of Regalia showing bodies of water (blue), flatlands and stony deserts (tan), highland regions, (paler brown), mountains (darker brown), and glasslands, vast regions with a surface of fractured glass (green-blue).

  • Helos, the world's capital, is marked in red. The surface starport is marked by a red cross.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Regalia is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.

  • Visitors are advised to act with caution.

As a member of The Protectorate, Regalia sends a specially selected Representative to the High Council, the polity's governing body.

  • The role is prestigious and is highly sought.
  • The Representative gains the role by persuasion, bribery, manipulation, or by force.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Regalia has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Regalia has population of 900 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
  • The population has Zhodani, Imperial, and Vlazhdumecta heritage.
  • Many families can trace their ancestry to pre-Long Night Vilani colonists.

Linguistic Topography[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Regalia possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Regalia has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law (L)[edit]

Regalia has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 4 (scarce)
  • Labor: 1 (tens)
  • Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
  • Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)

World Culture[edit]

The world lies within the Zhodani Shadow, a region strongly influenced by the society and culture of the Zhodani Consulate.

  • Heterogenity: 1 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
  • Symbols: 2 (very concrete)
