Junidy is a high-population world with a billion or more sophonts in population size. This world is designated an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Aramis Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Junidy, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdoms of a count and a minor duke. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This world has a nearby Imperial Way Station. This is the homeworld of the Llellewyloly, a Minor Race. They are 50% of the world's population. The Vilani name for Junidy is Dikgarmuma.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)

Junidy is located within the Towers Cluster.

Junidy has two stars in the star system.

Native Sophont: Llellewyloly

Llellewyloly small.jpg

Junidy is the homeworld of the Llellewyloly. [2] The Llellewyloly are also known to Humans colloquially as Dandelions or Dandies, due to a supposed resemblance to a Terran dandelion plant. Llellewyloly (pronounced "Chlay-chlew-i-lolly") have five multi-jointed limbs which function as hands and feet interchangeably. Their main sensory organs are also located on the limbs. The spherical central body is covered with long, coarse hair. Many body features are adaptations to the extreme temperature variations of Junidy's day. Respiration occurs across the entire spherical body surface and is adapted to Junidy's very thin atmosphere. Consequently, Llellewyloly venture unprotected only into similar atmospheres. "Dandies" have a great phobia of non-native environments, meaning that they generally stick to low-gravity, low-pressure environments with similar atmospheres to Junidy, and even then they usually require whole-body protective suits.

History & Background (Dossier)

After years of racial violence following a civil war, the Scout Service encouraged a new government to give equal rights to Humans and the Llellelwyloly. However, by 1108 the world's government was Human-dominated and introduced many laws which made life harder for the Llellelwyloly. This led to terrorist acts by the "Dandies", and in subsequent years their "Junidy Liberation Army" began working closely with the Kforuzeng Vargr corsairs, which led to the new Amber Zone classification.[3]

Junidy is the most influential and economically significant member of the Towers Cluster, and hosts dignitaries from its other worlds. For example, Yebab is represented on Junidy by a small Ebokin delegation headed by an official with the rank of "Sixth Speaker to the Lawless".

World Starport (Sp)

Junidy has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)

Junidy has a population of 30,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).

  • Anglic
  • Hulloyuo-co (and other Llellelwyloly languages)

World Technology Level (T)

Junidy possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)

Junidy is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. This is a continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and been replaced by allies or protégés. The justifications for the original change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.

World Law (L)

Junidy has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. On worlds with this degree of law, it is difficult to distinguish the police from the military. On others, there is no difference.

World Economy

Tukera Lines maintains a main office and facilities at the star port.

History-Era: New Era

New Era (Click Show to reveal)

In antebellum times, their homeworld was dominated by a succession of governments formed by the minority human population. Nearly all of these discriminated against the Llellewyoly, restricting their freedoms, and relegating them to second class status. In the period between the last two Frontier Wars, an armed resistance movement composed of Llellewyoly radicals and some sympathetic humans waged a low level guerrilla and sabotage war against the most recent government, a conflict that carried over into the Civil War period. Vargr corsairs assisted the guerillas, but were unable to dislodge the junta.

In the aftermath of the Collapse, the conflict cooled down to a simmer, as the world's location on the border with the Vargr Splinters, and its inclusion in the Industrial Development Program took attention away the issue. The IDP, with its equal opportunity clauses, unwittingly undid the junta's authority, and a majority of the human population sided with Llellewyoly moderates during the Representational Reform referendum. The strict government that now rules Junidy is a dual structure: a religious autocracy for the indigenous population, and a civil service bureaucracy for the human population.
