Yebab has an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. The system supports a population in the hundreds of millions. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Aramis Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Yebab, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a viscount. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This is the homeworld of the Ebokin, a Minor Race.
- This world is located in the Towers Cluster.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Yebab has a solitary primary star.
- It is a yellow main sequence.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Yebab is a large, chilly world with an exotic atmosphere composed of methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and various trace elements. A redish-orange light permeates.
It orbits within its star's habitable zone.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Yebab is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Yebab has an Exotic Atmosphere and possesses an unusual gas mix which requires the use of oxygen tanks. Additionally, protective suits, while not necessary, are recommended. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- While methane is an odorless gas, Yebab's atmosphere has enough other complex organics to make its smell offensive to the Human nose.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Yebab has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid (not water).
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Yebab is inhabited by large predators, for which the pre-sapient Ebokin were a primary prey animal. Over millennia, the Ebokin evolved intelligence as a defence against these predators. The eventual solution was found in a rigid formalised defence system; this was the basis for the all-persuasive Law which came to totally dominate all aspects of the Ebokin culture.
Native Sophont : Ebokin[edit]
Yebab is the homeworld of the Ebokin, a minor race with an extremely conservative, matriarchal society; its members rarely leave their planet. The Ebokin are an octapedal (8-peds) race of insectoids. They are chilopodoids and bear a base similarity to the Terran centipede and related organisms.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Yebab's highly alien ecology makes the world of particular interest for scientific research. The University of Regina's biology department maintains a research facility at Yebab's starport to study the world's many exotic lifeforms.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Yebab has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Yebab has a population of 700,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
- The population consists of Ebokin.
Urbanization[edit]
In addition to Yebab Startown, other major settlements on Yebab include:
- Aga Ra
- Gidii
- Kekushima
- Kirpa
- Shalam Kular
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Yebab possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Yebab is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
Government is conservative, matriarchal, and highly structured. The all-encompassing Law can only be changed by a Grand Council of adult females (equivalent to a constitutional convention); this drastic step is taken only a few times in a given century.
One local political position of note is the Eiyekob Bi Yekobak -- roughly, "Fifth Speaker to the Lawless", an ambassador or foreign minister.
World Law (L)[edit]
Yebab has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).
