Gnuggas is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and both non-agricultural and preindustrial in nature.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • Despite the challenging of living on asteroid colonies, this settlement is at a moderate population status of over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in size.
  • The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • These worldlets are working towards being an industrial world but lack adequate resources to do so. Local leaders are diligently working towards the expansion of this settlement's industrial manufacturing capability.
  • It is a member of the Empire of Varroerth in the Aengangvuer Subsector of Ngathksirz Sector, which is part of the Vargr Extents.
  • This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)

Gnuggas is a trinary star system.

  • The primary is a blue-white main sequence.
  • The secondary is a blue-white main sequence.
  • The tertiary is a yellow main sequence.

System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data

Mainworld Size (S)

Gnuggas is an Asteroid Belt consisting of a few very large objects with diameters of hundreds of kilometers, thousands of bodies of a few kilometers in diameter, and millions of smaller objects.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

None of the bodies within the Gnuggas belt retain an atmosphere.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

The Gnuggas belt contains a few icy bodies. A few belt objects have frozen volatiles on their surfaces.

  • Wilderness refueling is possible within the belt, provided a suitable icy object can be found.
  • Water for the inhabitants is generally imported and is extensively recycled.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

No centrally held chart of the belt exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)

World Starport (St)

Gnuggas has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)

Gnuggas has a population of 800,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

  • The population entirely consists of Vargr.

World Technology Level (T)

Gnuggas possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)

Gnuggas has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

World Law (L)

Gnuggas has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).

Trade Data

  • Importance: 2 (ordinary)

World Economy

  • Resources: C (very abundant)
  • Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
  • Infrastructure: 6 (limited)
  • Efficiency: +4 (advanced)

World Culture

  • Heterogenity: 8 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: A (very friendly)
  • Strangeness: 6 (very distinct)
  • Symbols: 8 (somewhat abstract)
