The Last Armada class Frontier Tanker is an TL–11 Frontier Tanker.

Description

The Frontier Tanker is a historical design produced in the Terran Confederation during the early 22nd century. These ships fled the Destruction of Terra at the hands of the Vilani Imperium in 2147AD, forming a part of the Last Armada and carrying with them the last remnants of Terran culture and independence. The class were extremely sturdy and reliable and endured more than a century of spaceflight. They ultimately found and settled the Demon Cluster, the Distant Fringe. The vessel was fitted with long-term low berths: these held a complete frozen watch to share and rotate duties over the long voyage.

1.	Tonnage / Hull	The Frontier Tanker is constructed using a 99,000 Ton hull built in a Flattened Sphere configuration. The hull is fully streamlined, giving good atmospheric performance that is further enhanced by its onboard gravitic systems. There are multiple airlocks located around the vessel. The vessel has hardened and contoured ventral surfaces, allowing surface landings.
2.	Crew	x566 personnel. x61 Officers. x505 Enlisted, including 99 Security. Accommodations There are 283 Staterooms. All quarters are double occupancy. There are 283 Low Berths. These hold the Frozen Watch. The low berths are tended by the vessel's medical staff. It carries 2,300 GenPods and large embryo banks. Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Individual sections of the hull can be sealed off. There are multiple emergency lockers.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-3 drive, and a Power Plant-3, giving performance of Jump-2 and 3-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 2 and an emergency agility of 3. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for up to three consecutive Jump-2s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration as standard, though this may be significantly extended by drawing on the dedicated refueling tankage. The engineering section has a main control room. Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery. The jump drive utilizes a lanthanum hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/5fib computer: the vessel has a backup Model/5fib computer. There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a standard sensor array, and has an avionics suite. It is fitted with backup commo and sensor systems. It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command.
5.	Hardpoints	x990 hardpoints. There are 990 unused hardpoints. No space is set aside for weapons mounts or fire control equipment.
6.	Armament	The Frontier Tanker is not armed.
7.	Defenses	The hull is unarmored. The vessel is not fitted with screens or other passive defensive systems.
8.	Craft	Flight Section x10 60-Ton Fuel Shuttles. The Fuel Shuttles are housed in two (port and starboard) dedicated hangers, each with a volume of 390 Tons: individual sections of each hanger can be sealed. The hangers are accessed by large doors.
9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 70,370 Tons. The hull is fitted with fuel scoops. The vessel is equipped with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in a few hours: the plant is operated and maintained by the engineering crew. Refueling Tankage 8,000 Tons of the internal tankage is dedicated to refueling operations. Droptanks Examples of the class are fitted with Droptanks capable of supporting an additional jump-2.

11.	Construction Time	207 weeks (48 months) as standard. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12.	Comments	Standard cargo capacity amounts to 5.5 Tons. The cargo hold can be sealed and has independent life support and environmental systems.

History & Background

The hull is constructed as a streamlined flattened sphere, though the shape is closer to a teardrop, with a narrower bow and a broader stern. It is equipped with fuel scoops, a fuel purification plant and pumping equipment to facilitate wilderness refueling. It has sufficient internal tankage to run the power plant and allow up to three jump-2s: the nature of the vessel automatically makes it a long-range design. The vessel is routinely fitted with jump 2 drop tanks, giving it an extended range capability, to enable it to cross larger rift zones.

The total fuel tankage is 70,370 Tons.

• Holding sufficient fuel for one Jump-2 leaves approximately 47,600 Tons available for refueling.
• Holding sufficient fuel for two Jump-2s leaves approximately 27,800 Tons available for refueling.
• Holding sufficient fuel for three Jump-2s leaves approximately 8,000 Tons available for refueling.

Known Examples

• Versatility Grace, the supporting tanker for the Resolve Aspirant, an Armored Cruiser. Both vessels disappeared at the same time and were recorded as "lost" in the Zelig Journal.
