Vemmadad is an agricultural, nonindustrial, pre-rich garden world with a near-ideal, utopian environment conducive to most sophonts, but still lacks an adequate population to expand its economy to a rich status.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Mimiuudlika Subsector of Verge Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Vemmadad is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x8 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data
Mainworld Size (S)
Vemmadad is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Vemmadad has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Vemmadad has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)
World Starport (St)
Vemmadad has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)
Vemmadad has a population of 800,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Technology Level (T)
Vemmadad possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World Government (G)
Vemmadad is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)
Vemmadad has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility
Vemmadad, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the estate and fiefdom of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial baron.
Trade Data
- Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
World Economy
- Resources: 7 (few)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: -3 (poor)
World Culture
- Heterogenity: 4 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
- Symbols: 3 (very concrete)
World Timeline
Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within:

- -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man administers the worlds of the region.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night. There is widespread regression within the area. Many worlds become barren.
- The Year 0: the Third Imperium is founded.
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 604 to 622: the Imperial Civil War. The region suffers disruption and widespread economic issues.
- 624: the Express Boat Network is established, facilitating communications, trade, and economic growth within the area.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the system becomes widely available.
