Description (Specifications)

The S-1a class Space Command Battle Tender is an unstreamlined dispersed structure hulled support vessel. It is constructed as a long-range design. It is incapable of independent wilderness refueling. They rely on support vessels. The vessel is a TL-13 design.

These are unstreamlined, unarmored vessels designed for moving battle riders into direct combat. Hindered by no armor, they do have redundant systems to absorb some critical hits. They carry abundant secondary weapon systems, but must rely on their riders guns to kill enemy ships of the line. The prototype is the center piece of the fleet.

The dispersed hull allows rapid launch and recovery of craft. The twenty fighter squadrons are used to cover marines and screen the ship when launching and recovery riders.

The cargo hold is accessed by several large hatches with loading ramps. It has vacuum cargo transfer locks with grapples. The configuration of the hull typically stays in orbit and relies on service vessels.

3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Cobalt Dynamics Jump 4 drive, four Magnum Flow Reactionless 1G drives, and a Power Plant-4, giving performance of Jump-4 and 4G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 0 and an emergency agility of 4. It is a long-range design: the internal fuel tankage is sufficient for a single jump 4, with drop tanks for an additional jump 4 and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. The engineering section has a main control room. Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery. The jump drive utilizes a hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge is an efficient Model/7fib computer: with a full backup computer is installed on the back up bridge, flight command/auxiliary control. There are multiple holo-dynamically reconfigurable Workstations. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, an extensive passive and active EMS sensor arrays, and an avionics suite, with terrain following abilities. Vessels in military service have advanced sensors and are fitted with backup commo and sensor systems. They have system range laser, maser, and radio communication systems. 9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 440,000 dTons. The vessel is equipped with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in a few hours: the plant is operated and maintained by the engineering crew. Droptanks Examples of the class in military service are routinely fitted with Droptanks capable of supporting an additional jump-4 for extended range operations.
10.	Cost	The basic cost of the vessel, complete without the subcraft, is MCr583,683.406 The vessel and its subcraft are standard designs. Detailed architectural plans are widely available and no design fee is chargeable. If multiple examples of the design are ordered all of the ships in the production run qualify for a 20% discount, which reduces the price per unit to MCr466,946.72 (not including subcraft).
11.	Construction Time	240 weeks individually, 192 weeks in quantity. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12.	Comments	Standard cargo capacity amounts to 150 dTons.
