Thars is a poor, industrial, high-population hellworld, with a billion or more sophonts who struggle to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- This world is a member of the Trelyn Domain (the Duchy of Trelyn) located in the Jungleblut Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector.
- It is a member of the Trelyn Main.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Thars has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Thars is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Thars has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Thars has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
To comply with the terms of its Imperial charter, the Allarton Corporation, the Imperial corporation underpinning the Trelyn Domain, is limited to operations exclusively within the Trelyn Subsector of Vanguard Reaches Sector. Allarton officials and representatives may occasionally conduct business on other worlds of the Domain.
- Corporate operations in other areas of the Vanguard Reaches are conducted under the wholly owned Pan-Melesien Company.
- Corporate operations in the Far Frontiers Sector are conducted under the wholly owned Artesian Company, based at Yster.
Both subsidiary companies may be active on worlds far beyond their official operating areas.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Thars has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Thars has a population of 6,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
- The population are of Zhodani, Vlazhdumecta, and Imperial heritage.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
- Local languages descended from Vlazhdumecta.
- Riftian Anglic, one of the two primary languages of the Imperium.
- Zdetl, the language of the Zhodani and the Zhodani Consulate.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Thars possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Thars is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
World Law (L)[edit]
Thars has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors).

- Resources: H (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: F (very comprehensive)
