Tallamatrix is a preindustrial, moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.

  • As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a member of The Protectorate in the Inverness Subsector of Far Frontiers Sector.
  • This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Tallamatrix has a solitary primary star named Harlequin.

  • It is a yellow main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Tallamatrix is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Tallamatrix has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Tallamatrix has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

A basic map of Tallamatrix showing the seas (blue), lowlands (tan-green), hills and uplands (paler brown), mountain ranges (darker brown), forested regions (green), and the polar icecaps (pale blue).

  • Major urban areas are marked in red.
  • The capital, Von Bort's Town, is ringed in red. The surface starport is marked by a red cross.

(Broadly based on the world map of Tallamatrix, page 53 GURPS Atlas of Charted Space 3)

Tallamatrix was previously a balkanized world, and large regions that were former nation-states remain semi-independent. The most powerful of these are the Corporate Enclave (1), Van de Land (2), Isthmusstaat (3), and Progenine (4).

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

As a member of The Protectorate, Tallamatrix sends a specially selected Representative to the High Council, the polity's governing body.

  • The role is prestigious and is highly sought.
  • The Representative is chosen by agreement among important members of the world's ruling class.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Tallamatrix has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Tallamatrix has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved.
