History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

At the advent of the Third Imperium, this world -- then called Shaaak -- was the dominant industrial power on the trailing Sylean Main. Although only one parsec from Sylea (now Capital), Shaaak was never a member of the Sylean Federation. The Shaaaki were the product of a hybrid Vilani-Solomani culture that flourished during the Rule of Man. The acquisition of technology from the Syleans and access to their growing interstellar empire enabled Shaaak to prosper. However, two centuries into the Imperial era, Shaaak’s environment had become severely degraded by unbridled industry.

With the imminent environmental collapse of a world right on Capital’s doorstep, Emperor Martin II deindustrialised the planet and ordered a mass emigration of the Shaaaki people to several nearby worlds: Ase, Uunli (later named Umgadin) and Khishnar (later Xalm). A smaller colony of Shaaaki settled on Vlaakier, which later became Affinity. Shaaak itself was renamed Syroe and put into conservatorship so Imperial ecologists could revive the world’s environment.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)[edit]

Syroe, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdom of a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversees affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Syroe has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Syroe has a population of 800,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

Negative Efficiency is worse. Efficiency at -1 or less turn the RUs available negative: the Inefficiencies are so destructive as to make the economy a net drain. Such barriers represent a welfare state; cultural influences which do not value wealth, even physical limitations. On the other hand, since some economies have positive efficiencies: positive multipliers increasing available RU. )
