Stowkau is a preindustrial, moderate population water world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.

  • Its surface is 90% or more covered in an ocean of water.
  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Bengalaz Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stowkau is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a white main sequence.
  • The secondary is an orange main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Stowkau is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Stowkau has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Stowkau has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

Satellites:[edit]

Stowkau has three small vacuum moons.

  • They orbit once every few weeks.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Extensive aquatic native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Stowkau is busy and is relatively well developed. The system has been settled for many centuries.

  • Information about the system is sparse.
  • The resources of the system are being exploited.

There is regular activity within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart.
  • Commo is buzzing with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
  • Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • A number of vessels will be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Stowkau has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Stowkau has a population of 600,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

Urbanization[edit]

A number of large urban centers surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
  • Regional centers have their own starports.
  • Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Stowkau possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Stowkau has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 3 million personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Stowkau has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 2 (ordinary)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: Unknown
  • Labor: Unknown
  • Infrastructure: Unknown
  • Efficiency: Unknown

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 6 (harmonious)
  • Acceptance: A (very friendly)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
  • Symbols: A (abstract)
