Rakhason is a preindustrial water world.
- Its surface is 90% or more covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Mimiuudlika Subsector of Verge Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
- This world has a colony at Naamon.
- This world lies on the Sirim Loop.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Rakhason has a solitary primary star.
- It is an orange main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x11 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Rakhason is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Rakhason has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Rakhason has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
A sedate and bountiful water world, Rakhason has proven to be an ample and, so far, inexhaustible supplier of edible sea life for thousands of years. The sole moon is small and orbits at a distance that excites little in the way of tides, leaving only a somewhat eccentric orbit around its primary to create world sweeping storm seasons. Unlike many water worlds, the populace here lives firmly on land, dispersed among the most promising islands scattered across the globe. The capable starport, located in the northern hemisphere near the ice cap, was chosen to avoid the best fishing zones, which are further south and, for certain exotic catches, beneath the southern ice.
Rakhason's Knight-in-Residence presides from the starport island, though she also tours the home islands frequently. The Marquis of Rakhason keeps an island estate far from the starport, though he travels abroad extensively. The Marquis both employs and is himself a highly talented chef, and has found both popularity and economic benefit for his world in a chain of seafood restaurants across the subsector.
Rakhason is something of a curiosity to the IISS as an idyllic water world with a staggering variety of sea life, but no real sophont candidates. IISS Oceanographers and Xenologists frequently test new equipment here.[2]
World Starport (St)[edit]
Rakhason has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Rakhason has a population of 60,000,000 sophonts (tens of millions).
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Rakhason possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Rakhason is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)[edit]
Rakhason has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Rakhason, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 2 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 6 (millions)
- Infrastructure: C (very extensive)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
World Culture[edit]
