Puparkin is a low-population fluid world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- A fluid world has an oceanic geography consisting of heavily contaminated water or a substance such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquid.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by Vargr sophonts located in the Jewell Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- Around 80% of the population is made up of Vargr.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Puparkin is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x3 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
It orbits within the outer system.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Puparkin is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Puparkin has a Corrosive Atmosphere and possesses a concentrated gas mix or unusual temperature which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit. TL–9 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- It has an extremely high surface atmospheric pressure and experiences very low temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Puparkin has 25-35% of its surface covered by a fluid other than water. Wilderness refueling is not possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.
- This surface fluid may be ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids depending on the local temperature and environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Puparkin is a low-population world with fluid oceans located in the Jewell Subsector of the Spinward Marches. It is Non-Aligned, though the Zhodani Consulate exerts much greater influence over the world than the Imperium.
Puparkin has oceans of molten lava, which emit poisonous gasses into the atmosphere. It is an unpleasant world with very little going for it. During the Third Frontier War a number of Vargr refugees settled here but due to the hostile conditions their colony has not expanded. Due to the unpleasant planetary conditions on Puparkin, the population has never exceeded 8,000 people. Why they remain at all is something of a mystery. [2]
The world trades directly with the Vargr Extents and contains a large Vargr trading community.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Puparkin has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Puparkin has a population of 5,000 sophonts (thousands).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
- About 80% of the population (approximately four thousand individuals) consists of Vargr.
- Around 20% of the population (roughly a thousand individuals) are human.
Urbanization[edit]
Due to the world's inhospitable atmosphere and environment, all settlements are either built below ground or in sealed surface modules.
Garok, the only notable population centre, is connected to the nearby starport by a transport tube. Its factories produce quality goods that have become popular with merchants. Energy is harnessed from the planet's lava flows and used to power the settlement's dome.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Gvegh, a widely spoken Vargr language. Many dialects exist.
- Zdetl, the language of the Zhodani and the Zhodani Consulate.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Puparkin possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Puparkin is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.
- The government's authority is being contested by a shadowy Vargr criminal syndicate.
World Law (L)[edit]
Puparkin has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Later Historical Eras[edit]
history-Era: New Era[edit]
Puparkin is a minor Spinward State not within the envelope of the Zhodani, Regency, and Aslan spheres of influence. The world trades directly with the Vargr frontiers, and contains large Vargr trading communities. Because of the essentially uncontrolled Vargr presence, Puparkin is considered rather lawless and dangerous environment.
