Jend is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.
- This world has yet to take off economically or otherwise and the population remains low for reasons largely unknown.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Oscuro Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.
- This world-system has a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
- This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.
- 100% of the population is made up of Jaibok
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Jend has a solitary primary star.
- It is a yellow main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary inner system rocky worlds.
- x1 outer system planetoid belt.
- x3 outer system gas giants.

Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones prime H region.
- It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Jend is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Jend has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Jend has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites:[edit]
Jend retains two small vacuum moons.
- The worlds orbit once every few weeks.
Mainworld geography and topography[edit]
A simple map of Jend showing the major landmasses, highland regions, the seas and lakes, and the polar icecaps.
- Major inhabited regions are shown and the location of the main surface starport is indicated.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Jend is a war-ravaged, depopulated world occupied by savage Jaibok raiders and their Jansa allies. The infrastructure of the world is in ruins and is being stripped.
- It is controlled by the Korsumug Empire.
- The resources of the system are no longer being exploited.
There is limited activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is very infrequent: ships rarely visit.
- Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Korsu, the primary language of the Korsumug Empire.
- A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A few vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Jend is a former non-aligned human world.
- In 1105, Jend was the target of a major military assault by forces of the Korsumug Empire.
- The conquest was extremely rapid, with the majority of the fighting ending very quickly. The human population, despite outnumbering their attackers and being on familiar ground, were annihilated.
- It is believed that the Jaibok may have used chemical or biological weapons to conquer the world.
With infrastructure destroyed and no large groups of survivors known to date, no recapture attempts have been made.
- According to rumor, a loose alliance of systems are planning a reconquest, intending to both deal a blow to the Korsumug and boost the morale of the surrounding region.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Jend has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The starport facilities are intact and under the control of Korsumug military forces.
- The Naval Base and the Exploration Base have also been captured.
World Demographics[edit]
Population: 8,000 Jaibok
- These consist of a permanent occupation force of Jaibok personnel, as well as now-resident Jaibok salvagers and scavengers.
The world was formerly home to 3.3 million humans. Their fate remains unknown.
- There appear to be few or no corpses.
- According to rumors, a large part of of the population were enslaved and taken to the realm of the Korsumug. The rest were simply eaten.
Urbanization[edit]
The ruins of seven major cities and various outlying communities dot the surface of the world.
- Each city was linked by a modern maglev network and served by a local spaceport: these are now derelict.
- Each city has extensive underground sections.
- Bands of human survivors and resistance fighters are believed to remain within the ruins.
The cities and inhabited regions are heavily cratered and filled with debris and unexploded ordnance from the intense Jaibok bombardment.
- While the vast wildernesses remain unaffected, ecosystems for hundreds of kilometers around the settlements are barely coping with the new conditions, such as increased radiation and destroyed habitats.
World technology level[edit]
Jend possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
It is likely that the TL will fall as the Jaibok continue to strip the world of anything valuable.
World government[edit]
Jend is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to write the policies voted on. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by voting population.
- The Jaibok residents choose among themselves where next to strip for materials, based on the profit that can be made and the prestige that can be won.
- Disagreements are generally settled violently - when all points of view have been expressed, petty alliances have been formed, and a single leader has established dominance, a quorum is reached.
Prior to the invasion, Jend was governed by wealthy merchant houses. It enjoyed an exemplary and rapid economic rise.
World Military[edit]
Jaibok raiders have conquered the world.
No local world military exists: it has been annihilated by the military might of the Korsumug Empire.
- When it had a human population, it had a strong military garrison to help deter Jaibok aggression.
- There are rumored to be human resistance cells hiding within the ruined cities.
- Surviving troops not in the home system at the time of the invasion either scattered or joined alliances against the Korsumug Empire.
The Korsumug Empire maintains tens of thousands of troops on temporary assignment to the world.
- The Jaibok troops frequently fight amongst themselves.
World law[edit]
Jend has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
- Jend is a lawless and violent place, where might is right and the slow (or outnumbered) are dead.
- Since the start of the Jaibok occupation, the word of warlords and high priests has been the ultimate authority in the zones of occupation.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources A (Abundant)
- Labor 2 (Hundreds)
- Infrastructure 1 (Extremely limited)
- Efficiency +3 (Improved)
Trade Data[edit]
Commercial trade within the system has effectively ceased. The Jaibok are stripping materials and resources from the world and shipping them back to the Korsumug Empire.
- Prior to the Jaibok occupation, this system was a trading hub in constant competition with Talokan.
- It was a major destination and depot for the Talokan Trade Authority.
- The main exports were advanced technology components, luxury goods, and culture and entertainment.
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity 3 (Monolithic)
- Acceptance 5 (Very aloof)
- Strangeness 8 (Very confusing)
- Symbols D (Very abstract)
Jend was an affluent society before the attack, attracting trade and financially-driven migration in equal measure. Over time, the world's constant eagerness to surpass Talokan took on bizarre extravagances. For example, some showpiece space stations were placed close to the common jump-exit sector for vessels from Talokan, but facilities were skimped on in other regions of the system.
- Scattered traders, soldiers and travellers from Jend, who were not present at the attack, mourn the loss of what they believe to be an irretrievable cultural treasure.
World Timeline[edit]
