Talokan is a high-population ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and are both non-agricultural and industrial in nature with a billion or more sophonts in population size.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- As a group of industrial worldlets, well-developed manufacturing and processing sectors are major business here. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Talokan Void Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.
- Asteroid belts have no climate, but experience extreme differences in temperature between direct starlight and shade.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
- This world-system hosts a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
- This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Talokan has a solitary primary star.
- It is a turbulent orange bright giant named Karukus.
- Talokan is the namesake of the Talokan Void.
Monostellar System[edit]

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld (a vast accretion disk).
- x8 secondary rocky worlds (protoplanets still in the process of formation).
- x1 planetoid belt (a collapsing accretion disk).
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Talokan is an Asteroid Belt mainworld.
The Belt orbits within the far outer system.
- It receives very low levels of stellar energy.
- The belt lies just beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Talokan is an Asteroid Belt consisting of a few very large objects with diameters of hundreds of kilometers, thousands of bodies of a few kilometers in diameter, and millions of smaller objects.
- Asteroid Belt is the belt when it is the mainworld of a system.
- Planetoid Belt refers to any non-mainworld belt within a system.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
None of the bodies within the Talokan belt retain an atmosphere.
- The belt is in vacuum conditions, requiring the use of a Vacc Suit.
- TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
The Talokan belt contains no icy bodies. No belt objects are known to have frozen volatiles on their surfaces.
- Wilderness refueling is possible within the belt, provided a suitable icy object can be found.
- Water for the inhabitants is generally imported and is extensively recycled.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held chart of the belt exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, asteroid belt.)
Native lifeforms[edit]
No native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The world hosts major commercial operations bases for the Talokan Trade Authority and the First Bank of Talokan.
- It is the headquarters of both the TTA and the FBT.
- Their sites include private spaceports.
- Their facilities are guarded by their corporate security personnel.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Talokan has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Talokan has a population of 9 billion.
Urbanization[edit]
Enormous cities are tunneled into large rocky planetoids.
- Each has its own starport.
- Smaller facilities exist on other rocky bodies.
- Structures and facilities are sealed.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Talokan possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-4.
World Government (G)[edit]
Talokan is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
- The head of state is General Guryanov Abram Yegorovich.
World Military[edit]
The Talokan Armed Forces are charged with protection of this culture and its citizens.
World Law (L)[edit]
Talokan has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: H (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: C (very extensive)
- Efficiency: +5 (very advanced)
Trade Data[edit]
Importance: +5 (Cardinal)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 9 (discordant)
- Acceptance: E (extremely xenophilic)
- Strangeness: 9 (extremely confusing)
- Symbols: F (extremely abstract)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
