Guthrie is a poor, nonindustrial hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • It is a member of the Regency of Muirimi in the WillWlmo Subsector of Theron Sector.
  • A Prison World, exile camp, or prison camp for criminals or other exiles is located upon this world in addition to other points of interest.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Guthrie is a trinary star system.

  • The primary is a red main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
  • The tertiary is a brown dwarf substellar object.

Under Sitaraist belief, the primary and its companions are considered "bad stars".

Guthrie has three stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

Guthrie is a Twilight Zone World.

  • In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.

It orbits towards the outer edge of its star's habitable zone.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Guthrie is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.

  • The world is seismically and geologically active.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Guthrie has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.

  • Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
  • Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
  • The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
  • The world has a high oxygen taint.
  • The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Guthrie has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

  • Much of the surface is a frigid, hostile environment.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Guthrie is a prison facility. It remains as an undeveloped backwater with very little development. It has been settled for centuries.

The population are culturally Muirimi, with most of the inhabitants able to trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra. The majority are followers of Sitaraism, a form of star-worship.

The world formed part of an ancient Muirimi state called the "Roshanee Kee Ekata", or the "Unity of Light", more commonly known as the Unity of Stars: the region was sometimes referred to as "Far Tibet". It was home to reclusive sects of monks dedicated to achieving personal enlightenment and unlocking inner powers. The Unity and its member worlds chose to join the Regency of Muirimi upon its formation.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Guthrie has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Guthrie has a population of 100,000.

  • Around 80,000 are inmates and detainees.

Urbanization[edit]

A few large correctional centers are surrounded by smaller work camps.

  • correctional centers are dotted across the world.
  • correctional centers are sealed against the environment: work camps are not.
  • Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Guthrie possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

World Government (G)[edit]

Guthrie has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 1000 prison wardens and officers.

World Law (L)[edit]

Guthrie has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 5 (scarce)
  • Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: +2 (good)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 3 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 2 (very xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 4 (somewhat distinct)
  • Symbols: 2 (very concrete)

This world is part of the Muirimi culture.

  • The religion of Sitaraism is widely followed.
